William Hope Hodgson's The Night Land.
A novel that was published in 1912. It takes place when the sun has become a giant red dwarf and humanity is found in only in one of two giant redoubts (a fort) and a man must traverse the land to unite the people.
This piece is more concept than finished, but I liked it so I figured it was done. Might do my original idea as alternate.
