Young Mijra was as brilliant as he was troubled. He was a master of the machine, and had a deeper understanding of electronics as he had of people. But he felt like he had little control in life, and became desperate for acceptance. He fell in with a bad crowd and started doing stupid things just to have some sense of agency. He was a culture jammer, committing petty vandalism in the digital realm. Unfortunately, it didn't turn out well for him, as his "friends" were interested in far less petty crimes. He tried getting out, but things turned violent before he could. And so, at age 15, though he was never convicted of any crimes, he found himself exiled from his home moon for his own safety.
He started a new life on a terrestrial planet. He found some fleeting connection there, but it wasn't enough to keep him from feeling like an outsider. He realized that to escape his past, he'd need to get much, much farther away. At 17, he joined the explorers guild, and would soon find himself on a journey to the planet Tayyogan Rek - Earth - 1300 light years away.
