Short follow-up to my essay on tokenism, racism, transphobia, and Harry Potter.
tl;dr - token straight black guy craps his pants at valid criticism; Persephone offers a trans and Indigenous perspective
My latest essay, read aloud for the visually impaired: "Dead on Arrival; or, Rowling's Autopsy." Very big. Features a lot of changes since I uploaded it.
tl;dr - tired of #token readers shilling a fascist transphobe and her franchise, trans fantasy nerd lays said author to rest
#fascism #harrypotter #snape #transphobia
New interview for "Hailing Hellions," which interviews models from my book series—usually about BDSM, politics (e.g., gender studies, Marxism) + liberating sex work! Today's guest: Allie Reads, a princess with a doe-sona who loves books, sex toys and showcasing healthy worker/client interactions while looking cutie!
SFW version of the interview: https://nicksmovieinsights.com/2026/04/hailing-hellions-an-interview-with-allie-reads.html
General CW: BDSM, Gothic content and theatrics, as well as sex worker abuse and bigotry of various kinds (variable per interview); discussions of sex work, underwear photos/photos of sex toys, and fascism
Seeing someone uncritically endorse Rowling's franchise in 2026 is just wild to me, especially given its openly racist elements. I don't normally make video essays (usually written essays or one-take react vids without visual aids), but here I make an exception: responding to The Birdman grifting moderately in his "Exposing the Grift: Harry Potter and the Curious Case of Black Snape":
tl;dr - trans fantasy nerd tires of token black moderate shilling a fascist transphobe and her franchise
CW: fascism/the Holocaust genocide and SA; police brutality and carceral violence; transphobia, racism, intermisia, sexism, fatphobia, ableism, and tokenism
I peer-review Chozologist's "Metroid and Nature" (2026).
tl;dr - Chozologist reductively isolates a broader theme in Metroid (man vs nature), one that needs a less eco-fascist and more dialectical-material approach
Reaction to thekavernacle.bsky.social's "The RISE of AI Girlfriends" (2016).
tl;dr - straight guy I watch is a bit late to the party/shows his privilege (while still largely being correct) when talking about my area of expertise
Reading my latest #Metroidvania essay summarizing/responding to S.R. Holliwell's "Maze of Murderscapes: #MetroidII"!
