Description
Sometime later, deep below the waves, Lumis was swiming towards Ramush using the undersea current she, Kael and Selendis talked about. Inside the kyogre's mouth were those that chose to take the particular service she was providing, although some of them began to have second thoughts of their method of transportation, with the smell and some scenarios being the most prevalent. The only solace some of the guild leaders had was that the group of the ralts and the yveltal took their seats near the throat to ensure no one for any particular reason or by accident fell towards the restricted sections of the ascended.
However, while there was mostly silence all around, Lumis' head was much more active and talkative. That's because Selendis, Archibald, Kira and Kael were talking through the telepathic link with her constantly, with the others joining at certain intervals to not get too bored during the trip. On occasion Stein checked how things were doing, but he left them be for most of the time. For the kyogre, she found it funny that no one had noticed the ralts and the noibat being at her belly rather than her mouth.
'Well, I can say things are still quite tense, so... I guess they're more focused in not focusing too much of what was going on around them, at least not in full detail' Kael commented.
'Not to mention traveling in your mouth is already worrying them' Selendis added.
'But so far nothing bad? Like claustrophobia and the like?' Lumis wanted to confirm.
'Nothing our of the ordinary here' Archibald saw. 'If anything they're as still as your teeth. And that reminds me, Kael, Kira, how are you doing down there?'
'Um... would you consider hearing Lumis' heartbeats and seeing movements of her belly and its contents not abnormal?' the noibat looked awkwardly.
'Not exactly, but you're still holding in place?' the yveltal asked.
'The webs of Eli are still keeping us stuck to the walls and the orbs we found are keeping us safe' Kael nodded. 'Also no sighting of the stowaway or any unfortunate mon falling here, so for now everything is normal'
'Thank goodness' the kyogre left out a mental sigh as she couldn't to it with her mouth full.
To continue spending a little more time without the monotonous silence, Archibald asked Kael what he could see from Lumis eyes, as he was capable of seeing when she talked with the guild leaders, Raphael and Midas while being mostly a quiet observer. With the permission of the kyogre, even though she became used to his presence inside her head, he linked his mind with that section of the ascended and told them that aside of seeing big chunks of water, he spotted some sharpedoes, a couple of tentacruels and a small group of laprases. Other than that, the ocean looked a little empty.
'Well, as far as I know, this part doesn't have a lot of pokemon around' Lumis explained. 'There're no corals or small rifts to make some homes deep below'
'And considering everyone can use the current, you don't want to place your undersea home next to the quickest entrance and exit point for any opportunist' Kael reasoned.
'Wow' Kira then rubbed her wings. 'Um... her, Lumis. You don't find it conflicting to have so many people inside your head?'
'Hum... I think it was a little overwhelming at first when Kael, Sely and the others linked me to their minds the first time, but right now I find it quite useful while not needing to move my mouth...' the kyogre remembered something problematic. 'Oh dear... Sely, are you helping out with diverting some of my saliva to my throat?'
'Archie and I are subtly doing it' the yveltal nodded. 'Just leaving a small portion to keep the moist, but we're channeling what we can towards your stomach'
'Phew...' the ascended was relieved to hear it. 'I really think we should find some of those dungeon items that can allow me to not worry too much about this stuff so people don't get too upset about it'
'If we get some, we can get a hold on them if we ask nicely' Kael rubbed his chin. 'However that might require being the ones keeping them on our possession. It's not going to be easy to put any items that you can interact with'
'I know. I'm too big to even notice them. And I don't think I can trust anyone else to handle them' Lumis pointed.
'Increasing the crew of Lumis ship, you mean?' the ralts smirked.
'Eh... maybe? Let's just not mention this to anyone that is not on board with the idea, okay?' the kyogre gave an awkward telepathic smile.
'I can already see you'll dive at the first appearance of embarrassment' Selendis smiled.
'And probably take you guys with me'
It was in that moment that Camila began to notice something strange. Slowly enough, a visual distortion was appearing at the palate, expanding through the whole mouth. Putting her hooves on her companions, she got her attention and pointed at the anomaly. At the same time, Selendis and Archibald felt heavy interferences with their telepathic connection with Kael, Kira and Lumis, being cut off soon after and redirecting their link to the rest of the members of the group.
'What's going on?' Lu looked quite worried.
'I don't know, but it's clearly affecting more than just Lumis' mouth' Camila looked around.
Erwin from his end frowned. 'Kids... whatever you do, stay still and do not panic' he ordered.
'Huh? What do you mean?' Riley was feeling tensed.
'Because I've seen this kind of event before' the silvally eyed Bruno, who nodded back. 'It's not common to occur, but it's something you would've run into eventually'
'Wait... is this...' Ayra connected the dots.
'...The formation of a Mystery Dungeon'
Huddling together, the group watched as things began to twist and change as if reality itself was losing all cohesion. In those moments two of the members, Astro and Selendis, were deeply worried about their soul bound partners as not even with the dews could feel what was going on at their end. They only hoped that once things calmed down, they could rush their way towards whatever room they might be holding on and put them on their backs to keep them safe.
The distortions became so disorientating, especially with the sounds of internal organs being increased to annoying levels, that Erwin ordered the group to close their eyes until he gave the signal. Seconds passed as their surrounding area was shaping into a dungeon and then there was calm, with the environmental sounds being a little more akin to be inside of a body. When the silvally told them they could move freely, many of them were a little shocked to see where they ended up.
The dungeon, if it could be considered that, was made out of flesh. Everything around them was soft and, if they narrowed their eyes a little to pick some details, the could see veins behind the walls and roof. So far there were no indications of bones or that they were near some vital organs, but considering the dungeon was recent enough, they wouldn't take too long to stumble with some of them.
"Well... this is not how I remember my education in anatomy" Cadoc raised an eyebrow.
"I don't think anyone has ever traveled inside a body to see how everything works... If you don't count Kael and Kira" Riley commented, unsure of what else to say.
Selendis looked around before turning towards them. "But that means Cadoc is the best suited to know the insides of a pokemon without causing too much problem. He's the only one with deep knowledge in medicine, right?"
Camila noticed the tension in the yveltal's face. "Sely, calm down. I know Kael might be somewhere deep within the dungeon, but that doesn't mean you should rush in" she then eyed Astro. "Neither you, buddy. You're also close to Kira, but charging in without a plan won't make us any good"
"And what I'm supposed to do!?" the latios snapped back. "My friend is out there without my help. She might be in danger or being surrounded by golems or..."
"I know Kael can keep her safe" Archibald cut him. "He's not a regular ralts and he has handled dangers like this. If anything he'll avoid combat and would focus in trying to reach the path towards the other floors"
Rebecca looked a bit unsure at first, but then nodded. "The chief knows this place. He already got here once. He won't let himself fall to whatever this dungeon can throw at him"
"But we must reach them in time" Pallas said. "It won't be long before the our fights overwhelm them on their side"
"So business as usual with a rescue mission mixed into it?" Areia guessed.
"I think so. But shouldn't we talk more with Erwin and the guild leaders?" Lu suggested.
"Yeah. Just to be sure on who's going to accompany us during our advance" Cadoc nodded.
As they were heading to the guild leaders and Erwin, Selendis and Astro looked to each other, then towards one of the tunnels. Through telepathy, they agreed to stick together to get their partners back whatever the cost, and the dungeon would not stop them from reaching them.
