Lara vs The Savage Pack
First Appeared: Monday, 13th, September ‘Wooden Pews’ online news aggregator The Heaviest Change by Lara Craft. When Barry Finbarr (the editor-in-chief and owner of the Wooden Pews) first asked me to write about my experiences of the so-called Lupin virus I must admit I had to think about it for a long time. Not because I do not want people to know what it is like to have suffered through this outbreak. Nor because I am worried about the attention it will bring. My concern is due to the secrets that I have had to carry because of it that I have not discussed with anyone. What I will reveal here may never make it to print becaus

The Mechanics Guide to Perspective
The Mechanic's Guide to Perspective Daveo stood in front of the old brown car holding the bonnet up with his right hand, and stared into the greasy engine bay with a touch of resignation. "Why does he keep booking in jobs like this?" he lamented to Swannie, who was laying out hand tools along the battered stainless workbench of the small mechanical workshop. Swannie's permanent laconic grin turned towards Daveo. "That sounds like a whinge to me." Daveo rolled his eyes and put up the bonnet stay before replying. "It's not a whinge, I'm just saying..." "Whinge" Swanny interjected. "...that he books in too many jobs on old shitboxes like

Diesel and Grace
The still air and green rolling hills are disturbed by squeaking thunder and diesel fumes drifting high into the blue sky.  The large yellow bulldozer rips through the green grass, sending clods of earth flying from its tracks as it blunders across the field.  Its wide blade clipping rises in the ground unnoticed, gouging and scraping the living earth as it passes. Tracks left across the damaged ground flowing back and forwards, spinning and leading to the large machine laying them down. A twin ribbon of oblivious destruction. It moves randomly but with great enthusiasm, black smoke belching into the clear air accompanied by the whistle of

Super Albino: Llamas are awesome! (101)
Heh. Four years without an update.I'm all grown up now.  Evidence of this is a demanding day job, a family, mortgage and I've finally moved all of my crap out of my parent's house.  Don't expect too much in the way of updates until I've retired (prob ...

WOW, my first DD!!
I have been away traveling for a few weeks over Christmas and on my return home found more than the usual messages in my inbox (usually there's 1 or 2 so 60-odd was a shock). My latest short story Lara vs The Savage Pack (and my first in ages) received a Daily Deviation on the 11th of January. Many thanks again to  xlntwtch and neurotype for this.  I guess I'm getting a little better at writing, even though I still see things I should do better. Tales of Change keeps growing in my mind and I think there's a few more short stories in the series yet to come, and I have always had in my mind a way to tie them all in together so that will be s

Oh, it's been a while...
Since I was here last, I started three businesses, shut one down, sorted most of my relationship problems out, bought another house, bought and sold countless cars, finished my Masters degree in business and moved house three times (this weekend being the fourth). I have never stopped thinking about all of the characters I have created, the stories I have on the hard drive that are unfinished or waiting for editing, nor have I forgotten the stories I have yet to write and desperately wish to do so. However, now when I open my unfinished work I can't remember a thing about where I was going with it, as I started much of it two and three year
