10.) Fawcett City, IN, USA: Fawcett City is an idyllic metropolitan community located in the American Midwest. Many years ago, the wizard Shazam took notice of the immorality and urban sprawl that had been infecting neighboring communities and took measures to protect Fawcett from similar misfortunes. Enlisting the aid of a sorcerer known as Ibis the Invincible, they succeeded in creating a distortion effect, which slowed time in Fawcett City allowing the city to maintain an ascetic art-deco atmosphere similar to the trends popularized during the 1940s and 50s. Fawcett City is not without its corporate hierarchy however. As Metropolis is dominated by Lex Luthor… so too is Fawcett City, the chosen territory of the industrialist Thaddeus Bodog Sivana. Sivana's need for money and power is unrelenting. In a bid to obtain even more wealth, he hired C.C. and Marilyn Batson to excavate the temple of Rameses II in Egypt. During this venture, Sivana's enforcer, Theo Adam murdered the Batsons, and the controversial fallout from the incident nearly ruined Sivana's position in Fawcett City. A short while later, the wizard Shazam decided that it was now time for Fawcett City to have an official protector. He manipulated the Batsons' orphaned son, Billy, into finding him at the Rock of Eternity. There, he bestowed upon him the power of seven ancient elders, transforming young Billy Batson into Earth's mightiest mortal - Captain Marvel. Captain Marvel became Fawcett's chosen protector and shared his power with two other heroes - his sister, Mary Marvel and Captain Marvel, Jr. (unofficially known as the Marvel Family), the three heroes routinely fought against Dr. Sivana and the likes of villains such as Black Adam and Mister Mind.

11.) St. Roch & Belle Reve:
St. Roch, LA, USA: According to Angel Killer, the city of St. Roch was originally called La Moyne. In 1868 rodents carrying Yellow Fever arrived from Europe. Earlier, in the late 1300's/early 1400's, St. Roch, the person, disguised himself as a Mendicant Pilgrim and encountered a plague in a place called Aquapendente. There he first used his "power" to cure the plague using the sign of the cross (he had been born with a red cross on his chest). He proceeded to cure the plague wherever he went. In 1414 the city of Constance, which also had been affected by plague, ordered public prayers in honor of St. Roch and the plague was cured. Thus, in La Moyne, when the Yellow Fever plague occurred, the city also performed public prayer to St. Roch and, again, the plague was cured. The city of La Moyne renamed itself St. Roch in his honor.

16.) Opal City, MD, USA: Opal City was founded in 1864 by Burnley Ellsworth after he amassed a fortune from his mining operation in Australia. With this in mind he named the the city after the little gem stone that had brought him such prosperity. By 1882 at least 3 streets of Opal City had become a bustling built up area that some at the time compared to the streets of Paris. This was in part due to a French family, the Benoits, who had also made it rich in mining and had been invited by Burnley Elliworth himself.

17.) Gotham City, NJ, USA & Blüdhaven, NJ, USA:
Gotham City, NJ, USA: In 1609, the Dutch East India Company selected English explorer Henry Hudson to chart an easterly passage to Asia. Along his journey, he surveyed the Northeastern coastal region of what would one day become the United States. Following Hudson's course, Dutch pioneers sailed for this New World and began populating the region once inhabited by the Miagani. The pioneers established themselves in two different colonies. One colony was set up along the shore where fishing was plentiful, and the other was developed further inland. The latter colony came upon the sealed cave with the Miagani totem erected before it. Unaware of its significance, they ignored the totem's warning and loosed Shaman Blackfire from the cave. The colonists were never seen again. Two days later, men from the coastal community traveled to visit their inland brothers. When they arrived in the village, they found the town deserted. Pools of blood dotted the streets, but there were no bodies. A trapper claimed to have seen the image of a naked Indian walking from the woods to the settlement. During the latter half of the 18th century and the early half of the 19th century, Gotham was a major port city known as Gotham Town. Beginning as early as 1799, Darius Wayne began construction on a family estate that would eventually become known as Wayne Manor. On January 1st, 1800, the frontiersman known as Tomahawk became embroiled in a fight with a British spy named Lord Shilling. Shilling had disguised himself as Tomahawk's close ally Stovepipe in order to get in close enough to procure a piece of mystical amber that Tomahawk had acquired from occultist Jason Blood years earlier. The two fought one another inside of an immense, bat-filled cavern not far from the Wayne estate. During the fight, the piece of amber fell into a stream of molten fluid. Shilling reached to retrieve it, and the amber fused itself to his hand, mummifying his entire arm. Tomahawk severed the arm and returned with it to Gotham Town. The arm and amber later became known as the Claw of Aelkhünd. The cavern in which the two fought one another would later service modern age super-hero Batman as the Batcave. During the 1950s, Gotham evolved with the changing times, particularly in light of the paranoia perpetuated by the Cold War. Various bomb shelters were erected all throughout the city. By the 1960s, Gotham City planners began an ambitious project called the Underground Highway. Beginning at Fourth Avenue, they began building an actual subterranean thoroughfare designed to link with the subway system. They only managed to complete two-hundred yards worth of tunnel before budget cuts forced them to abandon the project. In later years, the unfinished highway became a haven for the homeless and even a few criminals such as Killer Croc.

Blüdhaven, NJ, USA: Blüdhaven was a former whaling town, which was officially incorporated as a "Commonwealth" in 1912. The town had a generally poor socio-economic populace, owing in part to failed efforts to transform itself into a manufacturing and shipping center. The city lived through a corrupt balance of underhand dealings and unlawful policies, which was helped kept in check by the local police force. When the mastermind Blockbuster started making moves into Bludhaven, so too did Nightwing who was following up on the murder of 21 gang members who had washed up in Gotham City's estuary. As the city's first hero, Nightwing ended Blockbuster's criminal strangehold over the city and helped clean up its corrupt police force.

19.) Metropolis, MD, USA: Metropolis is one of the largest and most well-known cities in the United States, owing largely to the fact that it is the adopted home town of Metropolis' favorite son, Superman. The history of Metropolis stretches back to the year 1542 when Italian navigator Vincenzo Gnanatti discovered the region while in the employ of the Dutch. Prior to European colonization, the region was occupied by the Algonquin Native American tribe. It wasn't until 1634 however that the first settlement was established by Dutchman Paul De Vries. The settlement was named De Vries Village and occupies the neighborhood now known as "Old City" in the Eastern section of Queensland Park. Throughout the 17th and 18th centuries, De Vries Village prospered as a thriving seaport and it became an integral strategic location for General George Washington's army during the Revolutionary War. In 1775, it established itself as a host to many book and newspaper publishing houses, the most successful of which would eventually become known as the Daily Planet. In 1783, P. Randall Jeffries opened the First Metropolitan Bank, which still exists today, though the corporate headquarters has since moved to the Central Business District in New Troy. In 1847, the borough known as Hob's Bay became a bustling merchant center, as well as a hotbed for bigotry and intolerance, particularly against the rising influx of Irish immigrants. Mission worker Edna Luthor became a strong voice among the struggling workers, and she publicly preached a message of tolerance and love. Like many in the Luthor bloodline, Edna was a visionary whose convictions and strong sense of morality would help pave the way for Metropolis' future. These values were passed along to her grandson, Wallace Luthor who operated the Luthor Steel Works during the turn of the century. In 1905 Hunter City became home to noted adventurer, inventor and science hero Waldo Glenmorgan. Glenmorgan began a trend of scientific prowess which culminated in the city changing its name to "Metropolis". This name change propelled the city towards its current position as the City of Tomorrow.

33.) Midway City, MI, USA: Midway City is a metropolitan community in the state of Michigan in the United States. It is located on the North Channel, east of Sault Ste. Marie in Northern Michigan across from the southern tip of the Canadian province of Ontario. In 1618, the French explorer, Etienne Brulè established a small trading post for fur trappers along the North Channel coastline. As the community began to develop, they expanded further south and by 1620, the territory became known as Brulè's Landing. By the 19th century, Brulè's Landing benefited from the commerce of the Industrial Revolution and developed into a thriving boomtown. Towards the end of the century, the regional governments officially changed the town’s name to Midway City. Very near to them was the Midway City Museum, which operated as a front for the super-heroes known as Hawkman and Hawkwoman. Midway City police Commissioner George Emmett, adopted a positive attitude towards costumed heroes and allowed them a great deal of latitude in regards to their actions in Midway City.
