Red Teardrop Sculpture by spaceship505 Red Teardrop Sculpture by spaceship505
It started with a how-to in a polymer clay magazine of an oriental style bowl, that had this red with the bubbles and elements of gold and turquoise. I decided to go with the style but create a different shape using a small ceramic vase for its base.

I started with the red and I wanted to wrap a dragon around the sculpture but first I wanted to stamp a floral design with gold coloured mica powder into the clay for extra decoration. And that's when things took a different turn. The imprint of the stamp failed, it wasn't clear enough but not quite invisible either and I couldn't make it better nor rub it out. I felt I had no choice but to cover up the design with a 3D version of it. And that worked out so well that I nixed the dragon :)

In the end I decided to continue the turquoise flower motif and close off the vase at the same time, and I gave the lot 2 patinas (one brown to antique it and one aqua to prettify it) and all in all it worked out better than I could have imagined :)

I like it, it's almost as if it's an alien plant. :)
