Description
Risk had no idea where Monody had run off too, nor when he would be back… If he came back at all. Yet somehow the man expected Risk be able to be responsible for the safety and care of not only himself but Marin. He didn’t know why the older Curio had thought that was a good idea! Risk could barely take care of himself, let alone someone else, and now he had to spend his time pulling himself out of care free and aloof habits to make sure that he was not mangled with Marin by huge freaky mutant scum.
He’d been told to find a guard, but almost immediately upon coming across one they began shouting at him and Marin in Ankuri tongue that neither of them knew a lick of- and just their luck that they had misplaced their translator. On top of that they had pulled a gun and were pointing it directly at them, Risk pushed Marin behind him out of fear they’d actually fire the weapon. Though the shuffling thumps of heavy feet quickly caught the attention of the armed Ankuri who whipped around. Risk quickly clasped Marin’s hand in his own and quickly started to pull them away and start running.
The thundering of their little paws against the red light soaked floors were drowned out by the sounds of gun fire, screaming from the Ankuri and the screeches of whatever creature had attacked. Risk couldn’t help but pin his ears back at the gruesome sounds and tightening his grip upon Marin’s hand. They hadn’t said a word or even really made a sound since Monody had left besides some idle whispering chatter to pacify the desire for conversation under the blaring warning alarms. Even now they dared not seem to speak, only gripping Risk’s hand in return as he guided them away from the danger… Hopefully.
A quick glance flicked over Risk’s shoulder however only caused his fear to swell. He couldn’t help but open his mouth and scream- a childish behavior he had been known to partake in for the most minor of surprising moments actually having a proper place for once. Perhaps Monody wouldn’t even have chided him for the loud noise… No he would have, because surely it only drew more attention to the fleeing pair. What Risk had caught sight of was the vague shadow of the feeding beast lifting its head, blood dribbling from it’s split maw.
It made Risk’s heart feel like it was going to explode and he couldn’t help but tug Marin’s hand to drag them further behind them. Risk didn’t even know where he was running to or where he was going, where they could even hide. He assumed if one guard threatened him it was likely the others would too… And of course he wasn’t take the cowards approach of leaving Marin dead for the sake of his own self preservation. His green eyes darted around the halls, trying to keep a pace on the sound of thundering footsteps that picked up behind them but not daring to actually look behind him.
Just as it sounded like the beast was closing in on them, Risk spotted an open vent with a crude path leading up to it made out of scrap and nearby furniture. Risk rushed to it, while yanking Marin in front of them and began pushing them up towards the vent. They scrambled to climb, and Risk was just as frantic behind them. The trailing mutant let out an ear piercing screech but the pair had just enough of a lead to get away. Risk shoved Marin face first into the vent, clambering in behind them and kicking the path up behind them down as the beast followed up. He quickly reached out, putting his arm at risk to grab the vent and slam it shut. The beast smacked its hand against it before slipping to the ground, but he had a feeling it was only a matter of time before it would start trying to get at them.
Risk ushered Marin further into the vent, crawling frantically behind them in search of a safe place to hide and wait.
