Description
Ragged breathing and the sound of dripping blood filled the stale air of the Hive’s metal walls. Monody was standing rigid but stanced for self defense, trying to settle his mind and injured body. His shoulder and side were still oozing pools of blood despite his best efforts to stop the bleeding. He hadn’t expected to be ambushed from the shadows by the mutants, but he supposed that in his growing confidence with dealing with them had led to an increased unawareness to his surroundings.
He was lucky to have been able to rip himself free of the jaws that had locked upon his shoulder, as well as the smaller less intrusive jaws that wrapped around his leg. Though the decision to rip free had come with laborious bodily consequences, but likely rewarded him with his life… Now however, he was surrounded by three circling beasts and his chances of getting out of the situation were slimming. These creatures were incredibly resilient and difficult to kill when they were on their own, Monody had little help of being able to deal with all of them at once.
They hadn’t pounced yet even though he had been anticipating it, simply watching him with those intelligent blank eyes. It gave him a chance to catch his breath, but his nerves were only continuing to build. His grip rightened against his makeshift weapons, a pipe he’d rip from the wall and a discarded knife he took into his possession. Monody did not have faith in their ability to keep him alive, but at this point it didn’t matter. All he cared about were Risk and Marin on the levels above, and his feelings of regret for letting them tag along here while he sought to ease his own curiosity. Taking them somewhere most of the native population looked down on them, now putting their lives at risk with a full mutant break in. He could only pray that they were safe and secured somewhere out of harms way. He even considered what it might have been like if he stayed back to protect them… And yet he left them on their own in search of those who needed help on the lower levels.
He couldn’t help but give a bitter sweet chuckle and slowly shaking his head, though never taking his gaze off of the two mutants staring at him. Seemingly in response to the noise one of the mutant’s chittered their vile yellow teeth, and the other in front of him split open it’s jaws to let out an ear piercing screech that made Monody pin his ears back. The sounds of the third mutant trotting around behind him, probably thinking it’d be concealed by the screech. Alas, it was not in fact lost on Monody. A long low exhale escaped him as he lowered his head, preparing for the pouncing of the creature that was bound to come from behind him while staring down the creatures before him.
He had no where to run, so the least he could do was give this fight his best shot.
