One Shoulder Dress Marvelous Designer (updated) by soup-sammich One Shoulder Dress Marvelous Designer (updated) by soup-sammich
update: I've been informed that the triangle polys in this item do not play well with Blender.  I've updated the file to include a quad poly version as well.  It is named to identify it from the triangle poly .obj.

Ask and you shall receive Cosmic74 :D (Apologies for being a LOT later than I expected, Internet troubles...)

For anyone who downloads the file:

Contents are: OneShoulderDress.mtl, OneShoulderDress.obj, OneShoulderDress.png, OneShoulderDress.zpac, OneShoulderDress_0.mtl

Here are some of the basics:
1. This is just the dress.  No shoes, no box, no pole, no stand, no girl.
--1.a. Just the dress.  Which is fairly long.  I recommend your model wear heels.  Flats won't do...
2. It only has the default .mtl texture that Marvelous Designer exports with the files.  You're on your own for the texturing...
3. If you have Marvelous Designer, just download, unzip, and open the .zpac.
4. If you don't have Marvelous Designer, feel free to use the included .obj to make rigged/dynamic clothing.
5. The dress polygons are triangles.
--5.a. If this is an issue, let me know, I'll upload another .zip with square polys.
6. The files are fairly high poly, don't expect them to work well in older programs like Carrara.
7. The promo images were done after the file exports, so the wrinkles you see in the "T" pose promo image may/may not be present in the dress files.
--7.a. The "T" pose drape was done on a default Genesis 2 Female.  So, compared to Mannequin Nikki, the dress will be a bit larger overall.
8. If you use the dress in a render, please credit me here! (optional, but I'd like to see what you do with it :D :D :D)

Disclaimer: This is the first non-image file I've uploaded to DA, so it may need some tweaking from both our ends.  If you run into issues not being able to open the files in programs that support the file type, let me know.  If it's something I can fix, I will fix it and re-upload.  I unfortunately do not have the time to walk you through the processes for importing and manipulating the files (as much as I'd truly like to help, I can't).  I suggest googling "how to do dynamic cloth in (your preferred program here)" or, if you've got Marvelous Designer and Daz, SickleYield has an awesome youTube tutorial to get you going with bringing the two programs together, if you're new to the process (first part here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=R3679b…).

Hope you enjoy the dress, and please let me see what you do with it! :D

You are welcome! Let me know if you have any issues! Also, beware the tri-poly, it may not play well with Poser...

It won’t do much as-is in Daz I’m afraid... :(

No problem. I will try to load your dress at Lara or Casey in daz next week. They are G3 Females and I hope I can get the dress getting run on them.

Unless you hack the file (loosely explained here: www.renderosity.com/mod/forump… ), you won’t get any native Daz support from the dynamic cloth functions... you’ll be able to rig it in Daz, although I might need to upload the quad shaped poly version for best results...

If you can get the models into Poser (maybe Blender, too? It’s free and lots of youTube tutorials available) with the animation/pose then the dynamic aspect will almost certainly work.

Best of luck, and I hope you get it working! :)

Is there any chance to use it as normal dress and not as dynamic? If  there are a few morphs in the skirt area  and normal classic adjustment morphs to G2F or G3F I pose the skirt manual to get a good look . Perhaps you can create a normal dress for poser and send me a runtime file. I can use poser stuff in my daz.

I don't have poser experiences. I work only with daz.

I haven’t had a lot of luck with importing and rigging .obj’s in Daz, yet... And there’s currently no morphs for the skirt... I’m honestly not sure how I would make the skirt morphs work in combo with the rigging for the upper body... I’ll do some playing with it when I get home and see what results I can get out of it. :) It might take me a bit to get decent results, though. I’m new to making clothing... :D

Ok, so I have been spending some time getting a few things figured out.  Here’s what I have so far:  A conforming dress that looks HORRENDEOUS whenever you move the model, and a hacked version that I’m testing for dynamic functionality.  Daz has acknowledged that this “Dynamic Clothing Hack” works, AND they’re OK with people using it, BUT they’re really against (potentitally litigous against) distribution in all forms of the manipulated file.  So, I can update the .zip file with the almost useless conforming version, and a read me file with information on how to manipulate the file.  Since I don’t feel like being dragged into court by my favorite content hosters, (if you want the dress to be dynamic in Daz) you’ll have to manipulate the file yourself.

(edit: So I just spent an hour waiting on the dynamic cloth to finish calculating, and it didn't work.  Not one bit.  The file manipulation "proof of concept" I was working from was 3 years old.  Daz may have 'fixed' it, or I may not have set a parameter correctly.  Either way, I'm going to give up on the Daz Dynamic Cloth aspect of this upload.  I will, however, look more closely at creating a conforming/morphing version for upload.  I'll do a fit for Genesis 3 in Marvelous Designer and start there.)
