The Scripture of the Maiden on the Shoreline

Once, there was a maiden… … who stood at the edge of the sea. She dug her feet into the sand. In doing so, she left her mark on the world. With every step she took, she changed the world’s face. "Control is expression," she said. *   *   * The sea hit the shoreline as a creature with teeth. It devoured the maiden’s footsteps, and with them, her past. "What did you hope to achieve?" the roaring breakers cried. "It seems dominion is fleeting," said she.

The Scripture of the Maiden and Dreams

Once, there was a maiden… … who screamed and danced, and dreamed. One day, her dreams started dancing too. They were clumsy at first, but soon their dances outstripped the maiden’s. Unable to keep up with them, she watched her dreams dance over the horizon. "Love brooks no control," said she.

The Scripture of the Deadly Maiden

Once, there was a maiden… … who was the semblance of Death. Everything she touched died. Everywhere she went came to ruin. Mountains crumbled about her. Forests fell around her. She bathed in rivers and they ran dry. Even the wind stopped howling. "My world is what I make it" said she. *  *  * The maiden kept walking where she would until the world was dead. The world’s ghost chased after her. "Why didn’t you stop?" it said, "Why don’t you stop? "Why didn’t you leave me alone?" The maiden smiled, and slit her throat. Her ghost kept on grinning. "Even death has to end" said she.

The Scripture of the Fair-Hearted Maiden

Once, there was a maiden… … who had a beautiful heart. She wore it on her sleeve so the whole world could see. The maiden decided to show the world how she felt about this, and walked the corners of Creation. Wherever she went, everyone stared at her heart and said how beautiful it was. No one paid her any attention. "I cannot help what others see," said she.

The Scripture of the Maiden and the Boy

Once, there was a maiden… … who met a boy she did not know. Both were ignorant of the other. She sang: “Why are you, and where are you going?" He growled: “Who are you, and where have you been?" "To know the world is to change it," said she. "To survive the world is to remember it," said he. *   *   * He whispered black words at her, and she stared back with seeing eyes. She shouted heartfelt catechisms, and his heart beat in him anew. "To journey the world is to love it," said they. *   *   * And so they stepped across the world. Over mountains and oceans, through forests and fields, they journeyed ‘til jo

The surface pressed cold and hard against my back. I couldn’t see – perhaps the room was dark, or perhaps my eyes were closed. I opened them. No change. Either the room was dark, or I was blind. I shuddered and tried to remember a place other than this one, one where I could see. Then, something dawned on me, an idea that crept slowly into my mind. I had no recollection beyond this room, the darkness and this cold, hard slab. I sat up, and heard the rustle of some sort of fabric on top of me as I did so, which was followed by the slightest echo of shouting and cheering. Suddenly, bright lights blared on. I am fire and fury, the burning hate that dwells in every human heart. I am ageless aeons of sin that lies between stars. I am light and the flame imperishable. I am the cleansing fire that scorches evil in its absence and calls to everyone through the thin veil of their reason. I am the blessing and the curse and the salve of anguish that degrades the man and remakes him anew. I am the hurried beating of the heart, the deep, painful breath that lasts for a cruel eternity of bliss, only to twin itself with agony and sire itself unbounded. What am I, you ask, child? I am love.

My Bio
18 year old student studying English with Creative Writing at Bangor University, Gwynedd, North Wales.

I'm a geek through and through: I read mostly fantasy and sci-fi, I wargame, I RP (both online freeform and tabletop pen and paper), I video game. I read too many webcomics. I read manga and watch anime with a discerning taste (oh, who am I kidding? I like Bleach).

I listen predominantly to rock and metal, but now teenage rage has died down a lot, my musical horizons are broadening.

I'm a hopeless romantic with no personal experience in the field. I'm incredibly envious of anyone with any degree of artistic talent whatsoever.

And without getting into stuff that's too personal, that's pretty much me in a nutshell.

Favourite genre of music: Rock and metal.
Operating System: Windows XP
MP3 player of choice: The one I currently have?

Endings and Beginnings, etc.

Well, that's my first year of university done. Still no idea how well I did (though I get the feeling it was far from great) but, hell, at least it's done and out of the way. Got a nice long summer to look forward to. Which of course means more time for writing, both readable stuff and homebrew for Dungeons and Dragons, geek that I am. Even have a game in the offing that I'm intending to DM. It'll be the first real one in... damn, three years, I think. Eh, not much to else to say, so I'll finish with mention of the uncannily good weather here in North Wales (SUN! IN WALES!) and wrap this pitiful entry up right here.
