Hi gang,
Sorry for not coming by here as much as I would like. For the last couple of months my browsers haven't seemed to like DA very much and it whineds up freezing or the site crashes on me fairly regularly.
But I wanted to stop by and invite everyone who may be in the Orlando area to an art event I'm participating in.
It's in association with RAW Artists and they put on a great show, with live music local artists, fashion designers and etc.
Here's all the web and address info to learn more about:

Hey Gang!
Golly, is this really my first post of the year?
Well I have some news:
The anthology I've been working with my partner is done! well the first issue is done, working on the second now actually.

Amazing Action Adventure Showcase
is an umbrella for several graphic novels Steven and I have been wanting to do for a while now. Each issue will feature 8-16 pg chapters of each story and as many extras as we can cram in.

My goal is to get four out a year, we'll see how it goes.

It'll be dropping on the web in another week or so and the print edition will be available in two weeks
Where will you be able to pick it up?
Why at the Orlando Mega Convention of course.

I'm offering a pre-order sale for anyone going to the Con, If you request your sketch in the next week  and a half (the 14-23)
I'll take $5.00 off the standard rates below:

smaller pieces (8.5x11) with single characters are $20.00 for B&W (see Journal)

smaller pieces (8.5x11) with two characters are $27.00 for B&W

Larger pieces (10x15 to 11x17) with single characters are $30.00 for B&W + $7.00 for each additional character

smaller pieces (8.5x11 to 9x12) with single characters are $30.00 for color

smaller pieces (8.5x11 to 9x12) with two characters are $40.00 for color

Larger pieces (10x15 to 11x17) with single characters are $48.00 for color + $10.00 for each additional character

I've also been doing little 5x6 sketch cards for $10.00 B&W and $15.00 in color

I'm hoping this will cut down on some of the stress for me at the show in terms of workload and You might end up with a more involved sketch this way too- WIN/WIN!

So if you want on the list feel free to note me or email at Nathanwiedemer_AT_gmail.com
(As an aside I will go ahead and extend the deal to anyone who can't make a show but would still like a drawing)

And make sure you stop by if you're going to the con, whether you want to by something or not. I love it when people stop by and say "hi"!

I'll be giving more in for on the book later, stay tuned!

Ok,
I'm trying to give the new DA7 a shot, but so far it seems to be a complete disaster. First off pics don't seem to load correctly; I have to reload like 2-3 times to get some pictures to display properly or even show up at all sometimes.  loading time takes longer and the added suggestion notes (I'll leave a damn comment if I have something constructive to say, thank you very much.) and new interface effects are a tad annoying and don't add much positive to the overall experience. Though I have had them cause unfortunate loading errors... so they have that going for Them.
But the most annoying element I've come across is that when I'm logged in and viewing my own gallery the comments and stats on each individual picture are absent.
MY, WHAT A WONDERFUL NEW FEATURE.I'm so glad they removed the easiest and most direct access to the status of each individual image.
Now perhaps there's an easy fix for this, however if there is, I've overlooked it for about the last hour and a half during my avid search.
Is anyone else dealing with this? Am I the knucklehead here?
Perhaps, wouldn't be the first time, and if anyone has any suggestions I'd greatly appreciate them.

Unfortunately I fear DA has fallen prey to what many formally successful site and software companies have before them. I think they must have just slapped a whole bunch of new code on the old skeleton and now we must all deal with this poorly functioning Frankenstein monster we have before us.
I sincerely hope it improves soon, but I worry about how many great artist it'll bleed and lose before they do. I'm so sick of getting involved with online art communities that cannibalize and destroy themselves. It's so much damn work and takes so much time to get in contact with people of like tastes and interests not to mention updating and promoting your own gallery.

Is DA going to become another artist ghost town with nothing but a few remaining cliques fawning incestuously over each other? I hope not, I've found tons of great artists on here that i don't want to lose touch with them. Not to mention I'm lazy and I don't want to have to start  yet another account elsewhere. But if they don't start fixing things soon I'll at least have one less bill at the end of the year, BECAUSE I WILL NOT RENEW MY MEMBERSHIP.
