Witch

Had this lineart lying around since the beginning of October, meant to finish it before Halloween - oh, well. Part of me feels like she looks more like a magician than a witch now - something about the red underside of the cape and the band on the hat, probably. Either way, this was so much fun to paint - I rediscovered the power of masking fluid after being too scared to use it for a year (had a bad experience with my paper ripping up), and the lace was such a pleasure to line.

Hope you like it!

Masking fluid is a life saver :la: and if I may - I highly recommend getting rubber brushes to use with it - handy and easy to clean.

Yes, it really is! I actually used some silicone brushes (which I assume are quite similar) for this painting for the first time and I think my workflow has been transformed, haha. I'm so used to buying super cheap single-use brushes just for masking fluid (which was another big reason why I avoided masking fluid), but the silicone brushes make things so easy!!!

I know right :la: they are so handy

I actually got myself a masking fluid pen - which sounds like a nice idea and it works okay - sometimes... most of the times it's just stuck

I've had a bottle of masking fluid completely solidify on me after I didn't use it for half a year. I do wish I could buy smaller bottles of the stuff instead of 500 mL that I'll never use ^^; I think a masking fluid pen might work for me at least in the sense that I won't be wasting so much fluid when it inevitably dries.

I know right XD I've even had a bottle of white ink dry on me!

Even though I felt like I was using it all the time!

Black and red, like a rose shrouded in shadow. She's so beautiful yet you get this feeling that something sinister is being plotted. Also CAPE. :D

Thank you so much!! I love your interpretation of a rose hidden in shadows :D Much easier to be hurt by its thorns that way, which I suppose could be likened to when you come across a magical being whom you have no knowledge of.

Just like your witch: a lovely sight, perhaps so lovely the thorns might go unnoticed. :O

Maybe each petal and leaf (since they're quite pointed to begin with) morphs into a metal claw when the sun goes down :D

METAL CLAW??

MAD SCIENTIST WITCH?!?!?!

*ahem*

Sorry, that's two things when combined make me a little crazy. ^^;

Frankly, I've never seen a mad scientist witch in literature before, so I'm rather excited about the idea, too :D

My friend, we are creating something beautiful.

Thank you!!! The lace was super fun to draw :D I honestly have on clue what kind of magician she is - the only kind I can remember is card tricks XD
