Hybrid Doodles

I am uploading some old Biro-sketches from back in the day when I worked on 'Call Of Cthulhu- dark corners of the earth' video game. Most of it was just personal doodles while working things out and most of these designs were never used, but are a fair representation of the hundred of little doodles that never gets seen. This one was for a type of character , Hybrid, that was in the process of metamorphosizing into a 'deepone' which is an underwater creature that can breed with humans and fishes from the 'Mythos' of Lovecraft.

seriously the hybrid townsfolk weren't overly subtle in that game, and lets not forget the hotel name: Gilman! Gill-man!
lol but really those are some kool sketches.

They're all very good. Were any of these modelled in DCOTE at some point in it's long history of development? The lowest-left one with the wide mouth reminds me of the hybrids seen in trailers/images from 2002-2003 (the wide-mouthed Nathan Birch in the brown suit etc)

I made them more to give some input, and they weren't used as the basis for the final models since these were too unique for the game where we had to create variety by replacing 'skins' and didn't have a lot of variety for the actual models because they shared a biped 'skeleton'. I think if we had the same tech back then as we have today, like normal maps and poly count of todays models we could've done this.

Ahh I knew that the characters looked alike. If you put Jack Walters' texture on the face of the soldier, or the sailor, you have another perfect Jack.

Although back in the days of Lex's models, and things like that, weren't all the models unique? I recall that Jack looked like a square-headed dick, Thomas Waites was a fat moustached guy with a hat, Zadok Allen was still the same pink smelly hobo he is now, and Ramona looked like Angelina Jolie? If the tech could handle it in 2003, why not 2005?

PC game changed to an Xbox game, shoehorning something like that forces you to sacrifice stuff.

Bugger! If it were kept for PC only, it would've rocked!
