I woke up to find my head laying on my desk, my quill still in hand. I have had that dream for all my life, and I still wonder, what could it mean? I rose my head from the wood, and looked at what I had written. I was writing a letter to my nephew, I haven’t seen him in a long time. He didn't like it in the forest, he said it was scary at night. I dipped my quill back into the ink, and continued writing the letter. I had calculated that he would get this on his birthday, so I put some money in with the letter. As I began to seal the envelope, there was a knock at my door.
“Odd, I’m not expecting anyone.” I told myself. I debated in my head whether to ignore it, or to open it. The knocking had an odd sound and rhythm. It sounded like a bongo drum, in a soothing beat. I decided to open the door. I walked over to the door, and cracked it open just enough so I could see who’s there. It looked like a small band. There was a bongo drum and acoustic guitar player.  The men looked tired, and drenched for standing in the rain for so long. The guitar player looked much older than the drummer too, looked to be about thirty, while the drummer looked about ten.  I opened the door the rest of the way, a polite smile on my face.
“May I help you?” I asked.
“Sorry for the intrusion miss, but We've become lost, and this is the first house we've seen in three days.” said one of the men. I couldn't help but feel sorry for them, it’s not fun being lost in the woods.
“Come in then! I’ll get you guys some food and water, you look like you need it.” I said.
“Thank you.” Said the drummer, as the two walked in. When they stepped by me though, and into my home, I felt an odd sensation, it was warm and cold at the same time. Inviting, yet deadly. It made me feel like I was going to puke.
“Is something wrong, miss?” Asked the guitarist.
“No no,” I shook my head. “Just felt a little sick for a second. I most likely ate something bad.” I said. I still kept a watchful eye on them though, They just don't seem...human. I shook my head to dismiss the thought, then I skipped into the kitchen and began preparing a meal, speaking to them as I cooked.
“So, what are you boys ding in the forest anyway?” I asked
“We were sent by someone to give a singing telegram.” Explained the guitarist.
“Well, i’m the only one out here, perhaps someone played a mean trick on you two.” I said. “There will be a wagon coming by tomorrow to give me my goods, You guys can hitch a ride on it to head back to town.” I said. I set up a kettle, and lit a cozy fire in my fireplace, letting the crackling flames cook the soup. I filled up two canteens with Water, and gave them both to the men.
“Here’s some water.” I said.
“Thank you for your hospitality.” Said the Drummer.
“Your welcome. It wouldn't be right for me to leave you out there to die.” I said. “You may sleep in the guest room tonight.” I looked outside, and saw the beautiful colors of the sunset, and the shimmering snow fading into the darkness of night.
“Is there anything you’d like before I head to bed?” I asked. They both looked at each other, nodded, then looked back to me.
“Your sweet company is all I ask, my dear. That, and…” Said the drummer. His voice quieted to a mumble, so i was not able to understand the last part.
“I’m sorry, but can you repeat that? I didn't catch the last part.” I said.
“I said, Your sweet company is all I ask, my dear. That, and...Your blood.”
