Oh noes! Another Sonic group?!
All of the permissions are set up, so there's no need to worry about getting the message 'Join requests are closed' because EVERYTHING is set up, this includes automatic accepting of artwork in ALL folders (except featured of course). Here are the rules, if you think they are good, say so! If you think anything needs adding, say so too! Even if you don't want to join the group, it would really help and I'd be very grateful.
All groups need rules, or they'd be chaotic! Now, I'm not going to be extremely strict. So I have made posting to the gallery automatic, meaning I don't have to accept the art before it is entered into the gallery. HOWEVER, if people don't abide to these rules, that will change.
1.) Post to the correct folder. I have made each folder VERY clear about what goes inside of it. You will get 3 chances. 1st = Warning. 2nd = Severe Warning. 3rd = Kick for 1 week. If you don't know where to post something, post it into the 'I don't know where' folder.
2.) Abide to ALL of DeviantArt rules. Yes, that means no Pr0n. Be kind to eachother. Critique is welcomed and ENCOURAGED, so if someone CONSTRUCTEVELY crisitses your work, with no hate involved, do NOT throw a tantrum. It gives sonic fans a bad name, which we've already managed to get. =_=. If they are purposely trolling you, block + report them! It's that simple! IMMEDIATE ban from group FOREVER and reported to deviant art for ANYONE of ANY status who uploads Pr0n, and 3 chances for petty fighting. 1st = Warning. 2nd = Kick for 1 week. 3rd = Ban forever, or until I feel you are ready to come back.
3.) Post art that is of artistic value. That means, no screenshotting a Sonic X epsiode, putting a 'funny' word or phrase on top and then calling it 'art'. This is ANOTHER reason why we have a bad name. ALL levels of art ARE accepted, no matter how much of a beginner or expert you are. BUT, IT. HAS. TO. BE. ART. 3 chances. 1st = Warning, 2nd = kick for 1 week, 3rd = ban until I feel you are ready to come back.
4.) Have fun! Yes, most places use this corny rule as their last rule, but hey, it's true. This is a fanclub, where people who are passionate about the same thing get together and mingle. Not a dramatic attention seeking center.
The only thing that needs doing now is the group avatar. Which I am working on as I type.
Is classic better?Whenever I meet another Sonic fan in real life or online they seem to hold their breath when they find out I’m a classic fan. And then they forget to start breathing when it turns out some of my favorite characters and zones are from the modern games! On the other hand I know that classic fans (or fans in general, really) are often unreasonable, so a valid reason for anybody’s likes or dislikes is hard to come by.
That’s why I’m writing this.
Classic Sonic is more popular than his other incarnations for a reason, but it’s not because Sega stopped trying. The reason was, simply put, that it was the 90’s.
Sidescrolling games had existed since 1981 and 3D games were already being attempted when Sonic 1 came out. Developers knew what worked and what didn’t when it came to videogames because they were nearing the end of that era. So, despite the strenuous competition, it wasn’t very hard to know how to make the ultimate video game. They only h
