Chapter 8: Over His Head
Once he'd managed to get inside, Avisa found himself in a large front room. It looked similar to the one he'd found in the gateway, but with more doorways lining the walls. The room also had a more human touch to it, decorated with wooden bookshelves, posters, curtains and banners.
On the other side of the room, near a rather oversized staircase, was a wooden desk with books piled across the top. Nobody seemed to be home at the moment.
Avisa sat upright on his long tail and took a break.
"Hello?!" He called out after resting his tired muscles for a moment.
After a few seconds, Avisa heard a flapping sound from somewhere up above. A small bat-like creature, just a bit taller than Ferigree, flew in from another room and landed on the desk. She was carrying several books on her person, but she gently set them out of the way before jumping off the desk and hopping her way over to Avisa.
