Inside a LCD display is a hard plastic layer with dots or boxes of differing sizes. This layer diffuses the light from the bulbs at the top and bottom of the screen, keeping the brightness even throughout the screen. This is a selective focus shot of one such layer. it's been removed from the LCD of corse.
