Takara Tomy Zoids Wild Ruin

Ruin is fastest Zoid in the Dark Metal Empire. The large claws on the legs and the third claw "Wing Shortel" on the back, which appears when it’s Wild Blast is engaged, chop up the enemy. The jet boosters on the legs and back, which have excellent spring performance, allow it to move at high speed, and makes it particularly good at short-term decisive battles. It also has a head radar with well-developed sensory functions, and has the power to reliably stop while reading the movements of enemies in cooperation with allies.

This is the Takara Tomy Ruin (aka Gilraptor in the Japanese dub). I got this one on Amazon for $20, which is what the Hasbro one also retails for. This one didn’t really need a lot of paintwork. I just painted the teeth, the claws on the hands, and a couple of the vents on the body. Nothing major. This one will look good whether you paint it or not. It has a nice metallic red finish that looks really nice, and makes it look fierce. Now, I love the look of this one, but the walking feature is a bit strange. It has a tendency to wobble while it walks, and usually ends up falling over eventually. Unless I just did something wrong building mine and haven’t figured it out yet. The on/off switch is also a bit of a pain to get to. You basically have to move the blades on the back to get to the on/off switch, which can get annoying really fast since you have to put the blades back into position afterwards. I might buy the Hasbro one later to compare them at some point, just to see if it walks any better than the Takara Tomy one. In terms of looks, it looks an displays great! It’s ability to walk leaves a bit to be desired, though. It does make a good addition to your collection if you’re a fan of the raptor type Zoids, though.
