Sphero App-Enabled Droids

Description

These are my two Sphero app-enabled droids, R2-Q5 And R2-D2. :) Sphero really hit the ball right out of the park with these little droids. :) Not only do they look awesome, but they do a lot of cool stuff, too! Unlike the BB-8 and BB-9E made by Sphero, R2-Q5 and R2-D2 each have their own build it soundboards and integrated speakers. They also feature authentic looking LEDs in their domes, so everything that’s supposed to light up does. As cool as these two are, they’re also freaking adorable. :D They’ll respond to certain things around them, and will waddle and make various sounds if you leave them idle (if you don’t touch any of the buttons or controls in the app). :D Seriously, I cannot get enough of these. :D
R2-D2 can be purchased wherever Sphero app-enabled toys are sold, however, R2-Q5 is a Best Buy exclusive. Be aware that R2-Q5 has a higher price tag than Sphero’s other droids, retailing at Best Buy for $200. I got lucky and got him on sale from their website for half off (I think it was some kind of year end sale), but you can find him for under his $200 retail price if you go on eBay and look around. I don’t actually don’t know why he costs so much more than R2-D2. He’s a cute little droid, and his soundboard (which sounds very similar to R5-D4) does help distinguish him from R2-D2, but ultimately, the idea is just like the Sphero BB-8 and BB-9E: same engineering, same controls, same features, same functions, but different sounds and different AR (Augmented Reality) experiences. So you would think he would cost the same as R2-D2, but he’s actually more expensive.
Really though, I just love these little guys, and while they’re a bit on the pricey side, they’re completely worth their retail prices. 😊
