RG 1/144 Shining Gundam

This is the Real Grade 1/144 Shining Gundam. 🙂 This mobile suit comes to us from Mobile Fighter G Gundam, and is piloted by Domon Kasshu. The Shining Gundam was developed for the 13th Gundam Fight by Dr. Mikimura, a Neo Japan scientist. Designed with an emphasis on mobility, it has an excellent balance of offense and defense, and is equipped with the ability to reflect the pilot’s emotions and conditions into the performance of the machine.

G Gundam is my all time favorite Gundam series, so I had to have this kit. 😄 I was a bit skeptical of how they were going to make this kit work as a Real Grade, but Bandai made it work, and it looks amazing! The articulation and detail on it are spectacular, and I’m especially impressed by the engineering of the Super Mode transformation. Being a Real Grade kit, this doesn’t need any paint, and the panel lining if fairly minimal on this one.

This is mostly a really solid kit. In fact, I have no problems with the engineering of this kit. My main issue is with the accessories. You only get one Shining Finger hand, and the angle it’s at makes pulling off the Shining Finger stance. I also wish that they had included hands to pull off more martial arts poses the way they did with the Real Grade 1/144 God Gundam.

All in all, this is a great kit, and it was a lot of fun to work on. The articulation and detail on this kit are stellar, and paired with an action stand, will look amazing on display. Whether you’re a die hard Mobile Fighter G Gundam fan, or you’re just looking for your next kit to build, I highly recommend picking this one up. 😄
