Got a new addition to my Gunpla collection yesterday. 😊 I don't buy the RG kits too often because I don't like how easily a lot of them fall apart without the use of glue. That, and the two tone color idea Bandai uses on them just looks weird to me (example: one piece will be white, and the piece connecting to it will be grey, red will be paired with dark red, black will be paired with dark grey, etc.). This kit was a gift from my mom, though, and I really liked the look of it, so I figured why not. Besides, if you give me a Gunpla as a gift, you can't expect me not to build it XD.
Anyhoo, this the Real Grade 1/144 Gundam 00 (aka 00 Quanta) Bandai model kit. 🙂 I'm going to be honest with you guys. I don't know anything about thing Gundam because I haven't begun watching the series that its from yet. However, what I can say is that I'm loving this kit! The design is just beautiful, and the kit is very well made. 🙂 Unlike the other two Real Grade kits that I've gotten, this one is very sturdy, and it doesn't have a lot of loose pieces or panels that fall off. The head and the right shoulder armor do have an annoying tendency to pop off, but you can just pop them right back on. Also, the crest on the head falls out really easily, so for that piece, I recommend using glue. Other than those three parts, this kit is very well made, and stays together well.
The poseability of this kit is actually pretty good. Real Grade kits are known for having Master Grade articulation, and this one is no exception. The head can't look up, but can move down a little bit. The head has an annoying tendency to pop off when you turn it, so to turn the head, it's easier to just pop it off and the pop it back on facing whatever direction you wanted it turned. The shoulders in this kit are really interesting because they do something that I've never seen in any Gunpla before: they tilt. The shoulders can actually tilt up and down! The arms rotate a full 360 degrees, but the shoulder armor tends to pop off with too much movement, but it's not a big deal since they pop back on really easily. The arms also get a double bend at the elbow, and like all Gunpla, the hands rotate, pivot, and swivel. You don't get any movement at the abdominal section, however, he does get some side to side turning movement at the waist. Also the cockpit opens. 😀 For the legs, you get really good forward and back movement because there's no armor covering them. The armor on the sides of the lower body are on hinges that let them move back, allowing you to move them out of the way to get more outward movement from the legs. The legs also rotate at the thigh, and you get a really good double bend at the knees. The feet are attached by balljoints, so they rotate, pivot, and swivel. Also, the front ends of the feet move up and down, and the tips of the feet move up. So you get a really wide range of motion out of this guy. 🙂
For accessories, he comes with the shoulder shield, a large beam sword, six smaller beam blades, one open hand, one set of clenched fists, one set of weapon holding hands, and a clear stand. The smaller blades can all attack to the longer blade to transform it into one gigantic blade, and when combine, the end of the giant blade opens to make a railgun looking weapon. Now, the combine blades, can be a bit heavy for the Gunpla to hold up, so a poseable clear stand is included that attaches to the hilt to help support the weight. You don't have to use the stand (I was able to get the Gunpla holding the combine blade without needing the stand), but it's a good idea to use it is you plan to display this kit holding the combine blade.
All in all, I absolutely love this kit! It's sturdy, well made, has really great articulation, and looks awesome. 🙂 This kit took me a total of six hours to build (not counting the one hour break that I took), and honestly, it's a really interesting build. If you're looking for a cool Real Grade kit to buy, I definitely recommend picking this one up!
