Description
This is the Real Grade 1/144 Char’s Zaku II.
I got this kit for Christmas last year, and I have to say, it probably my favorite Real Grade kit I’ve gotten.
It wasn’t too difficult to build, but was pretty fun to build. Getting the individual segments of each of the tubes one to their respective pieces is still a pain in the but, but not nearly as much as with the Master Grade one. If you were able to build the Master Grade 1/100 Char’s Zaku II ver 2.0, you’ll able to handle this kit.
The articulation is what you would expect from a Real Grade kit, offering double bends at the elbow and knees, full rotation at the shoulders and biceps, arms that swing forward to accommodate poses with guns or rocket launchers, balljointed hands and feet, etc. The poseability at the waist is a bit obstructed by the the side skirt pieces, and the ability to bend forward at the abdomen is somewhat limited by the tube pieces on the upper body. I’m honestly not sure if you can get a full 360 degrees of rotation from the head (I don’t want to try forcing it and risk breaking any important pieces), but the head does turn side to side and can look up and down. Just like the Master Grade version, this kit has a fun gimmick where the monoeye will actually move when you turn the head. The eye moves left when you turn the head left, and right when you turn it right.
The only problems I’ve found with this kit are that the Real Grade hands for it are very fragile, and that the fingers tend to pop out of the hands a lot. They’re easy enough to pop back in, though. Then other problem that I have is the front skirt pieces annoying tendency to pop off. Those two piece are on balljoints, so they pop back in pretty easily. Other than that, though, I don’t have any other issues with this kit. It’s very well designed, and the joints aren’t overly tightened, so it’s a very easy to move around and pose Gunpla.
Definitely worth adding to your collection if you want a really good Char’s Zaku in this scale for your collection.
