NECA City Hunter Predator Figure

This is the NECA City Hunter Predator. This Predator comes to us from “Predator 2” (1990). The "City Hunter", also known as "Ghost", was a Yautja from the Lost Tribe that conducted a Hunt in the city during the heatwave and gang war of 1997. He eventually came into conflict with both a government taskforce attempting to capture him and veteran LAPD Detective Lieutenant Mike Harrigan. The City Hunter was killed in close-quarters combat by Harrigan, who wielded City Hunter's own smart disc, aboard his Mother Ship hidden beneath the city. His body was collected by his brethren and taken off-planet.

Predator 2 ranks in one of my favorite films in the franchise, so this figure was a must have for me. A lot of the figures from this line tend to be notorious for having really tight joints in the arms and legs, but this one’s joints are surprisingly smooth in comparison. You do have to move each joint to loosen them a little, but once you do that, you’ll have no trouble getting this figure into just about any action pose you can think of. In terms of accessories, this guy has quite a variety! This figure includes two interchangeable heads (one masked and one unmasked), five interchangeable hands, one bloody skull and spine, one plasma blast effect piece, one smart disc, one net launcher, one wrist harpoon, and two combisticks (one collapsed and one extended). The articulation is exactly what I’ve come to expect from NECA, allowing this figure to pull off just about any action pose you can think of.

For the most part, I absolutely love this guy! I really only have two small grips. First, I’m not a fan of the plasma caster (aka shoulder cannon) on this figure. It uses a kind of rail to go down or over the shoulder, and while it’s not a big deal, I don’t like it as much as some of the other plasma casters I’ve seen on these figures. My other issue is that he only comes with the closed version of the smart disk. I would have liked to have seen this figure come with both the closed and open versions of the smart disc.

Over all, I think this is a phenomenal figure! The paint and detail is very screen accurate, and I just can’t get enough of this guy! 😄 If you’re a fan of the Predator movies, especially Predator 2, I highly recommend picking this figure up. While you can find him pretty easily online, you can also sometimes find him at Target or Walmart, so he’s pretty easy to track down compared to some of the other figures in the line.
