Master Grade 1/100 Dom

I had to go back and forth on it for a few months, but I finally went ahead and bought the Master Grade 1/100 Dom Bandai model kit. I'm glad I finally went ahead and got him, because this thing is cool! He comes with a plethora of weapons, and I'm really loving the individuality articulated fingers on the hands. This kit actually wasn't too difficult to build. I was able to get him and the weapons all assembled within five and a half hours. Pretty good actually for a Master Grade kit.
This is an old kit, having been made back in 1999, but you can still find him on most sites for $40 to $50. I got mine from the good folks at USAGundamStore for a little under $45.
Now, I know hearing that this is an older kit might turn some of you off it, but try not to let it. Despite it's age, this is a really well made kit with a really good amount of articulation. The poseability is only slightly affected by the bulky body and armor. For the most part, the bulky design doesn't take away from the ability to pose this kit. You can get it into some pretty cool poses, and the individually articulated fingers not only increase the range of cool poses you can display him, but they also let you have him doing funny hand signs. How easy they make having him hold his weapons seems to vary depending on the weapon. He holds the machine gun and heat saber just fine, but I'm still having trouble getting him to hold the rocket launcher and giant bazooka. It's just a matter of posing the fingers just right so they keep a good grip on the weapon.
The head turns a little bit side to side, and can look up a bit, but that's it. Understandsince the Doms have pretty stubby looking heads XD. The monoeye can actually be moved up, down, left, and right by removing the top of the head. The arms spread out most of the way, but the shoulder armor keeps them from going higher. The arms each rotate a full 360 degrees at the shoulder, rotate a full 360 at the bicep, and bend a little over 90 degrees at the elbow. The hands are on balljoints, so you get a full 360 degrees of rotation at the wrist, and a little bit pivot and swivel. You don't get much rotation at the waist, you do get some pivot and swivel at the abdomen. Also, the cockpit does open, but the hatch pegs into a polycap, so it takes a while to get the cockpit to open. With the legs, they don't move out or back much because the armor gets in the way, but they do get some forward movement. They do bend at the knee, but not much because of how much the back of the lower legs stick out. You can bend them enough to get him into some poses, though. The feet are on balljoints, you get a good amount of rotation, swivel, and pivot out of them.
Honestly, I'm having a hard time finding any things that I don't like about this kit. For having been made all the back in 1999, it's actually a pretty solid kit. I had heard on YouTube that some people were having problems with the fingers falling out of the hands, but the ones in the kit that I got stay in just fine. If I had to Pic something, it would have to be that it doesn't come with a piece or point to connect it to an action stand. That's not too big of a deal for me, personally, since from what I know about the regular Doms, they're designed for ground combat. They do have boosters, as well as a Hover Mode, but essentially, there's no need to put this one on a stand, as it's more at home on the ground.
Honestly, I have no major complaints about this kit. For an older kit, it's very well designed, and looks fantastic all put tiger. I definitely recommend picking this kit up if you want to add some muscle to your Gunpla collection, or are looking to add to your Zeon mobile suit forces. ^u^
