MGSD Gundam Barbatos

This is the Master Grade SD Gundam Barbatos. :) This mobile suit comes to us from Mobile Suit Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans, and is mainly piloted by Mikazuki Augus. The Gundam Barbatos is one of 72 Gundam frames that was produced and used in the Calamity War. After it was recovered, Chryse Guard Security used it as a power reactor. Aside from the fact that its Ahab Reactors were still functional, this was done mainly because Barbatos' cockpit was missing when it was found. A new cockpit similar to the one used by the CGS mobile workers was installed prior to its redeployment by the 3rd Group.

Bandai rarely fails to amaze me when it comes to their Master Grade kit engineering, and this kit is no exception. The MGSD line is still only just taking off, this being only the second kit in the line, but it’s already wowing me. What particularly impresses me is how they were able to take all of the gimmicks from 1/100 MG Barbatos and scale them down to an SD scale. The articulation on this kit is absolutely stellar, and the build was a lot of fun.

This is one of those kits where it’s really hard to critique, because it’s so well done. It really is fantastic! The only problem I found is that the front skirt pieces sometimes pop off if you move the legs too far forward. That happens with most MG kits, though, so I can’t be too shocked that MGSD kits do it too. All in all, this is such a fun kit to build and pose, and I can’t recommend it enough! Whether you’re a big Iron Blooded Orphans fan, or you’re just looking for a fun kit to work on, I highly recommend this one. :)
