MGSD Freedom Gundam

This is the Master Grade SD Freedom Gundam. The Freedom Gundam comes from Mobile Suit Gundam Seed, and is piloted by Kira Yamato. The Freedom Gundam is one of ZAFT’s series of Gundam units built in C.E. 71 using technology derived from the four captured Alliance's Gundams. The Freedom Gundam has virtually unlimited combat endurance as it is equipped with a Neutron Jammer Canceller and powered by a nuclear reactor. The suit has full flight capabilities in the atmosphere and the back-mounted wings can be deployed in "High Mobility Aerial Tactics (HiMAT) Mode" to enhance its mobility in the atmosphere or in space. It also has an advanced targeting system, the Multi Lock-On System, that allows it to target and fire at multiple enemy units simultaneously.

This is the first kit in Bandai’s new Master Grade SD series, and boy does it live up to the Master Grade name! Featuring inner framing for most of the kit, this kit uses many similar gimmicks as the original Master Grade Freedom Gundam. While it’s slightly larger than a standard SD kit, this kit is still a work of art. Taking Master Grade Engineering and articulation and scaling it down to SD size.

For the most part, I’m extremely impressed with this kit. I had high expectations for it, and it did not disappoint in the least. The only issues I’ve found are that sometimes the legs pop out while you’re posing them, but they pop right back in just fine. The only other issue is that it’s hard to pose the cannons in the wings for Full Burst Mode because the head of the mobile suit gets in the way a bit. Still, overall, I am so impressed with this kit, and can’t praise it enough! Whether you’re looking for an enjoyable build or an awesome kit to display that doesn’t take up too much space, I highly recommend picking this kit up!
