MG 1/100 Strike Rogue Ootori

This is the Master Grade 1/100 Strike Rogue Ootori. This kit comes to us from Mobile Suit Gundam Seed, and is piloted by the Princess of Orb, Cagalli Yula Athha. The Strike rogue was built using spare parts from the Strike Gundam that were produced while it was repaired at Orb. Strike Rouge is almost an identical copy of the original Strike Gundam and features the same weaponry as well as the ability to use the Striker Packs, including the Ootori Striker.

Anyone that knows my taste in mobile suits knows that I love the look of the Strike Gundam and its variations. So I couldn’t resist picking up a Master Grade version of the Strike Rogue. 😄 I definitely like it, but I don’t find it quite as solid as the Master Grade 1/100 Aile Strike Gundam. The articulation is exactly the same as the Master Grade 1/100 Aile Strike Gundam, but there’s small handful of pieces that are different in the inner frame of this one. You also get the Ootori Striker in this kit, which is what the majority of the color correcting stickers on this kit will be used on.

As nice as this kit looks, it definitely has a few problems. First, I had a really hard time getting the beam rifle to fit into beam rifle hand piece. Next is the number of color correcting stickers on the Ootori Striker. I was very surprised by this, as you typically don’t see this many color correcting stickers on Master Grade kits. Next, it has a really hard time holding the sword. It fits kind of loosely in the regular accessory holding hands. My last issue with it is how back heavy the Ootori Striker makes this kit.

All in all, this was a very fun kit to work on, and it looks fantastic once it’s finished. I feel like this would make a good first Master Grade kit for beginners, given how straightforward the build is. Whether you’re a fan of the Strike Rogue, or you’re just looking for a fun kit build, I feel like this kit is worth the price, and definitely worth having. 🙂
