Description
Okay, sorry it took me so long to get around to taking these pictures, folks. I've had the kit built for a few days now, but I kept putting it off for different reasons. So I'm sorry about that. Anyway, here's my review:
This is the Bandai Master Grade 1/100 RX78-2 One Year War version model kit.
First, let me start by saying that if you've built the RG (Real Grade) 1/144 RX78-2, you're going to notice a lot of very similar steps and parts. This kit is pretty much a 1/100 scale version of the RG kit. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, though. Because this kit is made of bigger pieces, the pieces stay in place a lot better, and the limbs are all much easier to move. Let me put it this way: every piece that has a tendency to continually pop off of the 1/144 RG version doesn't pop off of this one XD. This isn't too difficult of a kit, and is actually one of the ones that makes a good choice for one's first Master Grade Gunpla.
In total, this kit took me just a little under three and half hours to build. Then again, I'm a slow builder, so I'm sure some of you out there can have this kit done faster than me.
One of this kit's selling points in my opinion is it's poseability. You get a very wide range of movement from most of this kit. The only part with lousy articulation is waist. The plate pieces on the skirt make it to this kit cam barely turn left or right at the waist. You do get a little bit of forward and back movement at the waist, but not much. Other that, though, the articulation in this kit is awesome, and you can display it in some pretty dynamic looking poses.
All in all, this is a really cool model kit.
It isn't the best Master Grade RX78-2 on the market, but it isn't a bad one, either. This is a fun kit to build, but you will need a small philips head screwdriver while building this kit because each leg has a screw that you need to screw in to hold two pieces on it together. How tightly you screw it in will determine how tight the knee joint is, so if you feel like the knee requires too much force to bend, simply loosen the screw a bit and it will fix the problem. With that being said, I do recommend the kit if you're either looking for something fun to build, looking to buy your first Master Grade kit, or are looking for your first Master Grade RX78-2 for your collection.
