MG 1/100 Narrative Gundam C-Packs Ver Ka

This is the Master Grade 1/100 Narrative Gundam C-Packs Ver.Ka. :) This mobile suit comes to us from the film “Mobile Suit Gundam: Narrative”, and is piloted by Jona Basra. The C-Packs was the third optional equipment for the RX-9 Narrative Gundam and is embellished with Psycho-Frame as additional armor. It is said that no such equipment plan originally existed for the MS, resulting in minimal conversions being hastily applied to the MS. Despite its unusual origin, the MS did achieve its concept to have an increased amount of Psycho-Frame, proving the high extensibility of the Narrative Gundam. This configuration of the MS is also called the "Psycho Package" and the Psycho-Frame used to create it was independently collected by Luio & Co.

I don’t often buy the Ver.Ka kits because they mainly use exclusively water slide decals, but I got the chance to see this one all put together at a collectibles show in July of 2024, and I absolutely had to have it. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to use the water slide decals because I messed up while applying them, but this kit still has quite a presence even without them. The engineering of this kit absolutely blew me away. It’s engineered not only to have a docking system for the core fighter, but the mobile suit is engineered to transform to add on the psycho frame parts. What particularly impressed me is how the psycho frame pieces from the Master Grade 1/100 Unicorn Gundam were flawlessly worked into this kit.

While this is mostly a spectacular kit, I do have a few issues with it. First, for whatever reason, the legs tend to wobble a lot. It doesn’t keep you from displaying the kit standing, but it is a bit weird to me. My other issue is that the legs fit in a bit loosely, which causes them to gradually loosen until they pop off when you’re posing the legs. This isn’t too big of a deal, since you can just pop them back on and they’re good as new, but it is annoying.

All in all, this is a spectacular kit for fans of the Narrative Gundam. It faithfully recreates gimmicks seen in the film, and it’s a pure work of art when it comes to its engineering and design. In my mind, this was one of the best kits of 2024, and a must have for fans of the film. 😄
