Description

Here it is, folks! The HG 1/144 Star Burning Gundam Bandai model kit! 🙂 I ordered this kit at the beginning of the month, and it arrived just the other night. 🙂 I did some panel lining and paintwork on mine, so it took a little bit longer that most HG kits usually take me. It looks awesome, though! 🙂 The Star Burning Gundam appears in "Gundam Build Fighters: GM's Counterattack", and was specifically built by Sei for Reiji. Sei designed this gunpla to be an all around fighter, able to fight in any field, with or without weapons.
I won't lie, I really like this kit! 🙂 It has a really nice look to it, and the amount of poseability you get out of this gunpla is amazing when you consider that it's only a High Grade kit. While this kit is pretty well made, I do have one major gripe, and a few minor gripes with it.
The poseability of this kit is amazing! The the head rotates, tilts let and right, and is able to look up and down pretty far. The shoulders rotate a full 360 degrees, as well as tilt a bit in each direction. The waist rotates, and you get a little both of forward and backward abdominal movement. You get double bends at both the elbows and knees, the feet both rotate, pivoted, and swivel pretty far, and the hands rotate and pivot/swivel (it depends on how you have them turn.
For accessories, you get a foldable gun, a shield that can split into two, two beam sabers, and four different sets of hands. Three of the four sets of hands and a hinge on the balljoint, so not only do they rotate, but they can also move up or down. The weapon holding hands are the only ones that don't have hinges.
I don't have too many problems with this kit. The only major problem this kit has is that the arms pop out of the sockets really easily. To the point where you can barely pose the arms without them popping out. The easiest way to get around this is to actually remove the arms, put them in whatever pose you want them in, then just pop the arms back in. It's pretty annoying, and I honestly don't know why Bandai used such small polycaps to connect the arms to the body. A few minor problems this kit has are that the shield pegs into the piece that goes on the way too loosely, and easily falls out. Also, the gun is in no way painted, and it doesn't even have decals for the green parts. It would have been very easy for Bandai to include decals for the green parts of the gun, and the mold the lower half pieces in a darker shade of grey, like on the box and in the anime, but they didn't. I did a little paintwork on the gun in mine, but I'm not happy that Bandai was so laid back about certain details.
All in all, despite its few flaws, this really is a great kit! If you put up with the issue with arms, this kit is a lot of fun to build and take pictographs of. This kit just came out not too long ago, so you should still be able to get it $20 online.
