Description
This is the High Grade 1/144 Z’Gok [SEED Freedom Version]. 🙂 The Z'Gok is a Morgenröte designed mobile suit based on ZAFT's aquatic mobile suits, the ZGMF naming scheme was adapted after such despite not being officially a ZAFT mobile suit, it is fully capable of operating in space. It features weaponry such as missiles and beam cannons. It is primarily piloted by Athrun Zala. The Z'Gok is actually a disguise, which hides the Infinite Justice Gundam Type II inside it. In an emergency, the Z'Gok armor can be purged to allow the Infinite Justice Gundam Type II to fight on its own.
Once again, Bandai has given us another amazing feat of Gunpla engineering for the SEED Freedom line. Not only does this kit vastly improve on how the original High Grade 1/144 Z’Goks, but it actually manages to hide several parts of the Infinite Justice Gundam Type II inside it! Not all of it, just the head, torso, lower legs, and feet, but that’s still insanely cool to me. Even more so that the articulation is in no way obstructed by the parts of the Infinite Justice Gundam. Speaking of articulation, the articulation is really impressive for a Z’Gok.
As far as issues go, the ones I’ve found are mostly pretty minor. First, all of the Infinite Justice Gundam parts are unpainted. This is entirely because those parts are hidden by the Z’Gok armor. Plus, those parts aren’t difficult to paint, so it’s not a real problem. My other issue is that the hip joints seem to sometimes have a hard time supporting the weight of the legs. Sometimes they support them just fine, and sometimes they don’t do it as well. There are a lot of ways you can fix this, though.
All in all, this is a very impressive kit, and the build is a lot of fun. This is definitely one of those kits that really wowed me with how creative Bandai got with it. The hidden parts of the Infinite Justice Gundam Type II is a really cool gimmick, and not something Bandai had to do. So I’m really impressed with this one. Definitely worth having, especially if you like lots of extra detail on your kits. 😄
