Description

This is the HG 1/144 Shiranui Akatsuki Gundam Bandai model kit. :) First off, yes, it is very shiny XD. I'm not going to lie to anyone here, I bought it because it was so shiny XD. You don't see a lot of Gunpla that are almost completely coated like this. You see some limited edition kits like that, but almost never regular kits.
This kit is from Gundam Seed Destiny, but I don't know much else about it other than that, and that there's a second version of this kit with a different backpack. I could never get into Gundam Seed when I was a kid. I tried, but it just wasn't as much fun for me a G Gundam was.
Anyway, as nice as this kit is to look at, I'm honestly a bit disappointed by some aspects of it. First, the articulation in the arms and legs is a bit limited, and are assembled very similarly to the early Zaku II kits. Also, the shield and blades require paintwork. If you look at pictures of the kit on the box, you'll see that the shield has a lot of black and white on it, as well as gold. But when you open the box, not only is the shield completely gold, but there are also no decals for the shield whatsoever. So if you want it looking the way it does on the box and in the anime, you're going to have to paint it. Also, the blades for the beam blades are supposed to be pink, and are shown being pink on the box. When you open the box, you'll see that the blades are both a transparent light blue color. So if you want those looking the way they do on the box and in the anime, you have to paint those too.
I'm not going to say I hate this kit, though. The gold coating looks really cool, and I love that so much of this kit is coated like that. Just beautiful! :)
All in all, it's a nice looking kit. Again, it needs some paintwork to get it looking accurate to the anime, but you don't have to paint the shield or blades. There are some things about it that I think could have been done better, but it is a good looking kit, though, and it's gold coating will really make it stand out in your collection. :)
