HG 1/144 Jagd Doga

This is the High Grade 1/144 Jagd Doga. :) This mobile suit comes us from the film “Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack”. Based on the frame of the mass-produced Geara Doga, the Jagd Doga was a special mobile suit designed to be used by Neo Zeon's Newtype pilots. Developed using data from the evaluation tests of the Geara Doga Psychocommu Test Type and the Röta Doga, it has a Psycho-Frame cockpit for controlling the six funnels stored on its shoulder-mounted funnel pod shields.

I have to say, for a kit that’s almost 20 years old, this is actually a pretty well done kit! The detail is really nice, and I like that it actually includes clear effect pieces for the funnels. Like most older kits, the articulation is a bit limited, but it still has enough articulation to achieve some pretty cool action poses. And surprisingly, this one requires very little extra paintwork.

As far as issues go, this kit definitely has a couple. First, the effect parts for the funnels fit into the shoulder shields very loosely, so they fall out really easily. The other issue is that the knee joints on this kit are really tight. I don’t know if this is because the mold for this kit is almost 20 years old, or what, but the knees are really tight on this one.

All in all, despite this kit’s age, it actually holds up pretty well. :) This kit definitely makes me want to pick up more variations of the Geara Doga. If you’re a fan of the different variations of the Geara Doga, or you want to collect kits from Char’a Counterattack, I definitely recommend picking this kit up. :)
