HG 1/144 Infinite Justice Gundam Type II

This is the High Grade 1/144 Infinite Justice Gundam Type II. :) This mobile suit comes to us from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom, and piloted by Athrun Zala. An upgraded version of the Infinite Justice Gundam, modified by Erica Simmons at the request of Cagalli Yula Athha. Originally made to test out the performance of the Cavalier Aifrid support craft, the Type II features enhanced performance over its predecessor. External changes to the Type II include a new head, new larger shoulders, changed skirt armors and legs, and the replacement of its signature horn's sensors with a beam blade emitter. A new panoramic cockpit has also been installed to improve the pilot's situational awareness.

I was a bit put off by the Infinite Justice Gundam at first due to its bulky wing packs, but it’s honestly grown on me, and now I really dig the design. I was also drawn to this kit because the backpack low key reminded me of an X-Wing Fighter. 😂 Anyway, this kit is a pleasant improvement in this line when it comes to the color separation department, having only a few stickers and needing almost zero paint. The articulation is as stellar as you’d expect from the SEED Freedom line, and the build is very enjoyable. I found myself particularly impressed by the engineering put into this one to let it achieve such dynamic action poses.

My issues with this kit are fairly minor. First, the backpack fits on very tightly, and once you have it attached, it’s really hard to get off. My other issue is while the articulation of this kit is fantastic, it’s still a bit of a pain to pose before of that backpack getting in the way if you can’t get it off. I worry that one of the pegs for the backpack might break if I remove it more than a few times.

Overall, this is still a really great kit, and I can’t deny that it looks badass. If you’re a fan of the Infinite Justice Gundam, or you’re looking to expand your SEED Freedom collection, I definitely recommend picking up this kit. :)
