HG 1/144 Gundam Vidar

This is the High Grade 1/144 Gundam Vidar. :) This mobile suit comes to us from Mobile Suit Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans, and is piloted by Gaelio Bauduin. At an unknown point in time, the damaged Gundam Kimaris Trooper was brought to the Outer Lunar Orbit Joint Fleet, and under the orders of Rustal Elion, it was overhauled into the Gundam Vidar for Vidar's use. During the overhaul, the damaged parts of the Gundam Frame were replaced with new parts produced using the current technology. As part of the overhaul process, the mobile suit first became the ASW-G-XK XK to test its systems, before it achieved its current final form.

With Bandai announcing a Master Grade 1/100 release of the Gundam Vidar, I decided to go ahead and pick up the High Grade 1/144 version to get a bit more familiar with the mobile suit. I have to say, this is one of the better Iron-Blooded Orphans kits I’ve worked on. Some of them have loose joints, but this one is mostly pretty solid. These HG IBO kits tend to use a lot of color correcting stickers, and this one is no different. Out of the 23 included sticker decals, I only actually used six of them. As far as issues go, it’s hard to find any with this one. It’s mostly pretty solid. The only parts I found to be loose are the wings on the backpack. But since they’re on ball joints, they pop right back on. Overall, this is definitely one of the better High Grade IBO kits I’ve gotten to work on. I love the design, and I love the variety of accessories it comes with. I definitely consider among the top 5 High Grade Iron-Blooded Orphans kits I’ve worked on, and I highly recommend picking it up if you find it.
