HG 1/144 Gundam Rose

This is the High Grade 1/144 Gundam Rose. 🙂 This mobile suit comes to us from Mobile Fighter G Gundam, and is the mobile suit that represented Neo France in the annual Gundam Fight Tournament. Piloted by George de Sand, the Gundam Rose was designed to pair with George de Sand’s skills in fencing. It’s signature weapon are the remote controlled Rose Bit lasers developed by Neo France.

This completely redone Gundam Rose is a P-Bandai exclusive. Not only is the articulation vastly improved from the original, the color separation is also improved, to the point where the kit requires very few stickers. There are a lot of parts on this kit that I thought for sure would be sticker decals that wound up being molded in the correct color of plastic. I found myself very impressed by the color separation on this kit. 🙂 The only parts that really need any paint are the tips of the lasers in the Rose Bits.

For the most part, this is a pretty solid kit, but it does have its flaws. Namely the side skirt pieces, which have an annoying tendency to pop off which you’re posing the legs. Another issue is that the instructions don’t really warn you not to glue the shoulder shield parts to the hinges. As it turns out, the segments on the shoulder shield are designed to come off to attach to the included effect parts, and is you glue them on, you press much render half of the included effect parts useless. Yeah, I made that mistake with mine. 😅 If you do make this mistake, you can still use the effect parts for the Rose Bits, but you can really only do one or two poses with them. So yeah, be careful about that. 😅

All in all, this is a really good looking kit. It’s especially worth getting if you’re a G Gundam fan. 🙂 I don’t think it’s worth the $70-$90 it goes for on eBay, so if I would try to hold out until you find a better deal elsewhere, or until you can pre-order one of its rereleases on P-Bandai’s website. I definitely like how good it looks, though, and if you can get it for a fair price, and you like the Gundam Rose, I say it’s worth picking up. 🙂
