HG 1/144 Gundam Lightning Black Warrior

This is the High Grade 1/144 Gundam Lightning Black Warrior. :) This mobile suit comes to us from Gundam Build Fighters Battlogue, and is piloted by Yuuma Kousaka. After getting the opportunity to pilot Meijin Kawaguchi's Gundam Amazing Red Warrior, Yuuma reproduced the Gunpla using his own techniques and with some modifications, resulting in the Gundam Lightning Black Warrior. Yuuma conceptualized this Gunpla as a combination of the multiple weapons and high mobility of the Gundam Amazing Red Warrior with the long range shooting capabilities of the Lightning Gundam.

Gundam Build Fighters has brought us some pretty cool Gunpla, and this one is no exception. The HG 1/144 Gundam Amazing Red Warrior was one of the very first Build Fighters kits I ever bought, so I was immediately interested when I found out that Bandai reprinted the Gundam Lightning Black Warrior, as I missed the chance to pick it up when it first came out. I really like the look of this kit. The black and metallic gold go really nicely together, and I like that it has the same gimmicks and good articulation as the Gundam Amazing Red Warrior. The modular beam rifle is also quite cool, as there are a lot of different configurations you can do with it.

While I find the modular beam rifle to be really cool, it’s also my only real issue with this kit. I know Yuuma designed it for long range combat, but that’s about it beam rifle is huge! 😆 It can also be very hard key the hands to hold onto. If it weren’t for the parts that attach to the backpack, I’m not sure this kit would be able to hold the beam rifle, LOL. Overall, though, it is a pretty cool kit. I really only recommend it if you’re a die hard Build fighters fan, or if you’re a fan of the look of it. If you are a fan of it, then it’s a fun and inexpensive build that looks really striking on display. :)
