HG 1/144 Gundam Heavyarms

This is the High Grade 1/144 Gundam Heavyarms. 🙂 This kit comes to us from Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, and is the mobile suit piloted by Trowa Barton in the series. The Gundam Heavyarms was designed as a long range mobile suit specializing in overwhelming firepower. Armed with vulcan guns, a beam Gatling gun, chest mounted beam Gatling guns, homing missiles, and micro missiles, the Gundam Heavyarms posses firepower comparable to 3 to 5 warships.

As far as high grade kits go, this is a pretty nice kit. It has several panels that open to reveal the chest Gatlings and different missiles. It doesn’t rely too heavily on sticker decals, but it does have some that can be tricky to apply. I wound up only using the ones for the eyes and head cameras, and then used paint in place of the rest. If you want it to look how it does in the anime, there are a few spots on the legs and feet you’ll want to add paint to. For the most part, though, the color separation on this kit is pretty good. This is one of those kits that I found hard to critique, because of how well made it is, but if I had to pick something to dislike about this kit, it’s that the articulation of the head is a bit limited for a modern high grade kit. Overall, though, it’s a pretty good kit. Naturally, if you’re working on a Gundam Wing set, I recommend picking it up, or if you’re a fan of the Gundam Heavyarms and prefer the TV anime version over the Endless Waltz version.
