HG 1/144 Gundam Age-1 Titus

This is the High Grade 1/144 Gundam Age-1 Titus. This is one of those kits that I bought simply because it looks cool. It has a very nice and very bulky looking design, and you can tell just by looking at this one that it’s a melee Fighter. You can just tell that this one could do some real damage on the battlefield.

This is one of the most nicely articulated High Grade kits that I’ve come across. The head rotates a full 360 degrees, gets a side to side tilt, and even with the collar piece can still look both up and down. The arms ear rotate a full 360 degrees at the shoulders, and the shoulders can each swing forward and move upward. The arms each rotate a full 360 at the biceps, they each get an almost full double bend at the elbows, and the hands can each rotate a full 360 degrees, as well as tilt, pivot, and swivel. You get a full 360 degrees of rotation at the waist. The legs each swing all the way outward, move all the way forward, can actually move all the way backward thanks to the the hinged back skirt area. Each leg gets a full double bend at the knees, and the feet can each tilt side to side, forward, and backward.

For accessories, there isn’t much variety. You get two beam rings that go around the lower ends of the arms, and 14 small beam blast effect pieces. The beam blast pieces peg into the holes on the shoulders and knees to create a really cool effect. Pegging them in correctly takes a little practice, but they make for some awesome shots once you get the hang of it.

In terms of issues, while this kit doesn’t have that many, it does have a couple of rather unfortunate ones. The biggest being the loose fit of the polycap and socket that connects the upper and lower halves of the kit at the waist. The upper body fits into the polycap kind of loosely, and while it isn’t so loose that it can’t maintain a pose, it is so loose that you after moving the upper body at all, it begins to loosen. This can be fixed by a quick adjustment, but it’s still an unfortunate problem that this kit that. The other issue I find in this kit is that pegging in the beam effect parts to the shoulders or knees can be a bit time consuming since despite all 14 being made from the same mold, they still don’t always want to peg in the way they’re supposed to at times, which can get annoying very quickly. Other than those two problems, I find this kit to be pretty well done.

All in all, the High Grade 1/144 Gundam Age-1 Titus is an awesome looking kit, and is an excellent choice for beginners because of it’s low piece count and low price. It offers a very impressive range of movement and articulation for a High Grade kit, and is fun to build for builders of all skill level. This kit usually retails in the US for less than $15 (I got mine for $13 on Amazon), so if you’re a beginner that’s looking for an inexpensive but good quality first Gunpla, or builder on a budget, this kit is definitely worth picking up. 😊👍🏻
