HG 1/144 Ghirarga

Time for one of the kits that’s been in my backlog since last year XD. This is the High Grade 1/144 Ghirarga. This mobile suit comes to us from Mobile Suit Gundam AGE, and is piloted by Zeheart Galette. The Ghirarga is an X-Rounder-use mobile suit and the successor of the xvm-zgc Zeydra. It is based on an experimental machine designed for commander-use and has since been modified to become Zeheart's personal unit.

This is my first Vagan mobile suit, and I honestly have mixed feelings about it. First off, I love the look of this thing. VERY cool looking mobile suit! I’ve only seen some of Gundam AGE, but the Vagan mobile suits quickly caught my attention for their cool and unique designs. That said, this kit was pretty fun to build with one exception: The tail. A poseable wire runs through the tail so you can pose it, but getting each individual segment of the tail on the wire is a royal pain in the neck because of how tightly they fit on.

As far as issues go, I really only have a couple of gripes with this kit. First, that tail. It looks really cool once you have it done, but it a royal pain in the neck actually getting it done. It honestly made me want to rage quit XD. My other issue is that the neon green blade pieces for the arms and legs fit in really loosely. They kept falling out while I was trying to work with them. Now, I’m sure a thin layer of clear nail polish can probably fix that problem, but it’s still annoying.

Overall, this is a pretty cool kit, but it takes a bit of patience to work on and handle. If you’re a fan of Gundam AGE, though, or you really did the Vagan mobile suits, I say it’s worth picking up.
