Description
This is the High Grade 1/144 Force Impulse Gundam. 🙂 This mobile suit comes to us from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny. For a time, it was piloted by Shinn Asuka, but it was later piloted by Lunamaria Hawke. Force Impulse Gundam is the Impulse Gundam equipped with the α Force Silhouette pack. The Force Impulse is a general purpose MS like the original Impulse, but has extremely high mobility under gravity and in zero gravity due to the Force Silhouette's high output thrusters and large wings. This pack also enables atmospheric flight, and adds a pair of beam sabers to the Impulse's standard armaments, granting the Force Impulse high melee and ranged combat capabilities. The Force Impulse is the most commonly used form of the Impulse due to its high versatility.
I’ve always liked the sharp look of this mobile suit, and after watching Gundam SEED Destiny, I had to pick up the High Grade kit for it. I found myself impressed by the color separation on this kit for the most part. It definitely needs some paint, but most of the paint is used for the core fighter. The articulation is pretty good, enabling tons of dynamic action poses. My favorite thing about this kit is that they were able to work in the transformation gimmick without compromising the articulation.
As far as issues go, I had a hard time critiquing this one. For the most part, it’s a pretty solid kit. I’ve really only found two issues with it. My biggest issue is the amount of extra paintwork that the core fighter needs. I was pretty surprised that they didn’t at least try to color separate that. My other issue is that while the kit does have a mechanism to add articulation to the abdomen, the weight of the backpack kind of makes it useless.
All in all, this is a pretty solid kit, and very beginner friendly in my opinion. The build is enjoyable, and the kit itself is a bargain for the low price point. If you’re looking for a fun kit to build, or you’re a big fan of Gundam SEED Destiny, I definitely think that this kit is worth picking up. 🙂
