HG 1/144 Dragon Gundam

This is the P-Bandai exclusive High Grade 1/144 Dragon Gundam. 🙂 This mobile suit comes to us from Mobile Fighter G Gundam, and is piloted by Sai Saici. The Dragon Gundam represents the nation of Neo-China in the 13th Gundam Fight Tournament, and is built to allow Sai Saici to utilize his Shaolin martial arts in any environment. In addition to the extendable, fire-breathing Dragon Claws built into its forearms, the Dragon Gundam is armed with twelve Feilong Flags - multipurpose beam weapons which can be used to pin down enemies, and also function as both spears and protective shields.

When Bandai announced this kit in 2024, I pre-ordered it as soon as orders went live. After a seven month wait, it finally arrived, and it is fantastic! The color separation on this is fantastic, and this kit uses very few stickers. I added a little extra black paint to a few parts just to add shadows to a few parts. You get a lot of accessories with this kit, including an action stand set (I didn’t use it for mine, but it’s there if you need it). More than anything else, the color separation on this kit is what impresses me so much.

For the most part, this is a pretty solid kit, but it does have a couple of small issues. First, there isn’t a lot of range of motion in the feet. This is mainly due to how the legs are designed, though. The other issue I’ve found is that the way the forearms are designed, it’s really hard to use the other hands included in this kit. You have to adjust the forearms at just the right angle to use any of the hands aside from the closed firsts and weapon holding hands.

All in all, this is a great kit, and it does the Dragon Gundam so much Justice. P-Bandai kits can get quite pricey if you don’t catch the pre-orders in time, but if you’re a big Mobile Fighter G Gundam fan, like I am, this kit is a must have. 😄
