Description
This is the Blokees Classic Class Transformers One Shockwave model kit. Like all kits in Blokees Transforms line, this kit requires no paint, tools, or glue to assemble. This kit has 86 pieces, and features a light-up eye and a light-up chest. The light unit uses one 3V CR927 button cell battery. Unfortunately, this is one of those annoying Blokees kits where you have to take apart the torso section to change the battery in the light unit.
Similar to how I felt about them making a kit of Soundwave from Transformers One, I was a bit skeptical about why Blokees was giving Shockwave a kit. But, I actually ended up really liking this kit. 🙂 It’s a really good representation of how he looks in the movie. Similar to the Soundwave kit in this line, Shockwave comes with with very few accessories; one closed fist, one open hand, a display base, and some kind of purple effect parts for the display base (I honestly can’t figure out what they’re supposed to be!). The articulation is mostly what we’ve come to expect the classic class kits, with the exception of new engineering in the hip joints that improves the range of articulation in the legs. I was a little worried that the shape of his head might limit its articulation, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that this wasn’t the case.
As far as issues go, this kit is mostly pretty solid. It does have two issues that I’ve noticed, though. First, the way the feet are designed limits some of the articulation in the ankles. Not a lot, but enough to notice that it’s a problem. Second, when you move the arms back down after having them outward, you have to move the shoulder armor back into place yourself, which gets a bit annoying.
Overall, this was a pretty fun build, and he comes together really nicely! He may not have many accessories, but he makes up for that with his sheer shelf presence (this guy is going to stand out among you Blokees model kits). If you’re working on collecting the Transformers One Blokees kits, I feel this kit is worth having, as he’ll look really cool displayed alongside Megatron, Starscream, and Soundwave. 🙂
