Blokees Action Edition TF One Optimus Prime

This is the Blokees Action Edition Transformers One Orion Pax/Optimus Prime model kit. 🙂 This kit has 272 pieces, and features a magnet controlled LED unit to light up the eyes and Matrix. I’m actually not sure what kind of battery the LED in this one uses, but I can tell you that you do have to disassemble the entire torso to change the battery in the LED unit.

This is an absolutely stunning kit! I’m a big fan of Transformers One, and couldn’t resist picking this guy up when Blokees announced that he was going to be joining their Action Edition line of kits. One of the neat gimmicks about this kit is that it actually comes with interchangeable parts to convert him into Orion Pax or Optimus Prime. The articulation is stellar, and the arms feature a gimmick that extends the elbow joint to increase the range of articulation. I also like that they made his axe the correct colors. They got it wrong with the Classic Class kit, but they got it right this time.

This is a fantastic model kit, and I hate to critique it, but it does have two issues that I’ve found. First, it can be a bit hard to get the pegs on the display base to peg into the feet. This isn’t a huge deal, since this kit does include an arm to stabilize the model on the stand, but it can be inconvenient if you prefer to display them on the stand without the arm. The other problem is one that I’ve never encountered with a Blokees model kit, and that’s that the light from the LED bleeds through the plastic of the pieces on the head. I was able to fix this by painting the inside of the head pieces black, but I was very surprised that I had to do that with this kit because Blokees normally does a good job making the plastic so the light doesn’t bleed through.

All in all, this is a really nice model kit, and one of my favorite to come out of Blokees Action Edition line. The build is very fun, the completed model looks awesome. If you’re a fan of Transformers One, or you’re looking for a fun model to work on, I highly recommend picking this one up. 😄
