Description
This is the Blokees Action Edition G1 Megatron model kit. Like all kits in the Blokees Transforms line, this kit requires no paint, tools, or glue to assemble. This kit has 237 pieces, and features light-up eyes and a light-up Decepticon emblem. The light unit in this one uses two 1.5V LR927 button cell batteries. Unfortunately, this is one of those ones where you do have to disassemble the torso to change the batteries in the light unit.
The first thing I’m going to say is that Blokees absolutely crushed it with this kit! This is definitely a kit worthy of the leader of the Decepticons! The articulation has been vastly improved over the Action Edition G1 Optimus Prime, even going as far as featuring individually articulated fingers. You also get a ton of accessories with this kit, including Megatron’s throne, his energon mace, Laserbeak, three interchangeable face plates, an energon sword, and much more. The build is quite solid, and has no loose bits that need glue. One of my favorite things about this kit is that most of the accessories can be stored inside of the throne, with the exception of a couple.
As far as issues go, I really only have three. First, there’s nothing to secure him to the throne for display, so it can be a little hard to position just right so it looks like he’s seated properly. Next, it’s annoying that you have to disassemble almost the entire head just to switch out the face plates. Lastly, similar to the G1 Optimus from this line, I hate that you have to disassemble the entire torso just to change the batteries in the light unit.
All in all, this kit is awesome! Blokees really went all in to make sure this kit didn’t disappoint. Given the piece count and the sheet numbers of accessories, I’m surprised this kit retails for only $35. If you’re a G1 fan, or you just love cool looking model kits, I can’t recommend this kit enough! 😄
