The next Star Wars model to arrive is... the 1/12 scale K-2SO!
K-2SO became one of my favorite characters in Rogue One very quickly for his witty and sarcastic remarks that he makes. Now, I've known that Bandai was coming out with this kit for a few months now, so when it finally came out, I had to get him.
In my experience, Bandai has exceeded my expectations with each of their model kits that I buy, and K-2SO here is no exception. I knew Bandai was going to make him look good, but wow! Seriously!
As far as the build goes, this was a really fun one to put together.
I was a little intimidated when I first opened the box and got a look at some of the pieces, but once I got started, it wasn't as hard as I was worried it would be. It certainly was different, though. Most of the Star Wars Bandai model kits I have are humanoid shaped characters, and while the pieces are different, they use very similar construction methods. K-2SO here is pretty different. His construction uses a lot of interesting parts and steps, and that's honestly part of what made building him so much fun. He was different, and I liked the change of pace. But yeah, when you look at some of his pieces, the build may seem intimidating, but it's easier than you may think. He does have some very small and very fragile pieces, so be careful when removing the pieces from the trays. In total, K-2SO here took me about two and a half hours to put together.
For movement, you get a pretty good range of movement out of him. Way more than the Die-Cast Elite Series figure. The head rotates and tilts, the neck moves up and down, the arms and hands rotate and swivel, and the arms bend at the elbow. He can rotate and bend forward and backward at the upper body, the legs and feet rotate and swivel, and the legs bend at the knee. One interesting thing his feet do that I haven't seen in any of Bandai's other Star Wars model kits is that they actually bend at the front of the foot (where the toes would be), which is really cool because it adds more stability, as well as helps the feet support more poses.
For accessories, he really doesn't come with much. He comes with interchangeable hand pieces to make his hands look either open or closed, and a stand. That's it. He didn't really have any real accessories in the movie though, so I guess it makes sense that the model doesn't come with a lot. It would have been cool if he came with a blaster, but it's not that big of a deal.
All in all, this is an absolutely fantastic looking model!
Every now and then, one of these kits comes along that I seriously can't stop geeking out about, and is definitely one of them! I am just loving this one!
Bandai gets major props from me for this one! If you're a fan of K-2SO, or you need a good looking K-2SO figure for your Rogue One collection, look no further. I definitely recommend picking this guy up if you get the chance.
