1/144 RX-78F00

This is the 1/144 RX-78F00. 🙂 The first thing I should mention about this kit is that it isn’t marketed as a High Grade kit. It has the detail and range of articulation one would expect from a modern High Grade kit, though. Anyway, I pre-ordered this kit from this year’s online Gunpla Expo, but I think it can also be purchased at The Gundam Factory in Yokohama, Japan.

This kit is made to be a scaled down version of the life sized walking statue found at The Gundam Factory in Yokohama, Japan. They make a 1/100 scale version, as well as a 1/144 scale version that includes the Gundam Bay display stand, but I opted for this one. It does still include a beam rifle, shield, two beam sabers, two beam saber blades, a set of open hands, and a rifle holding hand, so you’ll still be able to display in in all of your favorite classic poses. I simply left them out of this photo because I wanted to go with the walking pose on the box.
I feel that I should warn you guys that this kit needs A TON of paintwork! You don’t get stickers or anything for the multi toned color parts, and I actually had to mix paints just to attempt to get colors I needed. As you can see, the end result wasn’t the finest paintjob I’ve ever done. 😆 You don’t have to paint it, but if you want it looking at least close to the real life statue, you’re in for a lot of work.

I kind of feel like the head and shoulders are kind of small compared to the rest of the torso section, but that and the ridiculous amount of paintwork it needs are more only issues with this kit. Everything else about it I really like. It’s a hard to find kit, but worth buying even if you just plan to display it. 🙂 Painting it is pretty damn tedious, but the build itself is fun, and it’s a really good quality kit once you have it put together. 🙂
