1/12 R4-M9

This is the 1/12 scale R4-M9 model kit by Bandai. R4 units are distinguishable by their cone shaped heads, and aren’t seen terribly often. This particular R4 unit was seen in the opening scene of A New Hope shortly after Imperial stormtroopers took control of a Rebel cruiser. He’s seen only very briefly moving down the hall along with the other captured Rebels.

Of all the astromech model kits I’ve built, this one here is one of the most heavily dependent on sticker decals. This thing has so many sticker decals! Almost all of the green on the body and head are sticker decals. Luckily, that’s where a good 90% of the decals go. I used most of the decals, but I still ended up using a tiny bit of paint on a few spots. Once you get past applying the decals, this is a very nice little kit. And it does look pretty good once it’s done.
