Me: Okay, time to finally read -a little bit- of that Doe Of Deadwood comic that's been haunting me ever since I came across one or two random pages once.
*proceeds to read all 247 pages in one fucking go, it's now 2:40AM*
Seriously, your story is one of those unique, atmospheric things that I will probably remember until my brain is too rotten to do so.
Thanks for sharing it with us!
I especially enjoyed the dynamic relationship between... well, the doe and the deadforest. There is so much symbolism going on. Or it's probably just me over-analyzing things.
Also, for some reason, I always read the tree demon's voice as some otherworldly voice. Something that changes from male, to female, to genderless, to human, to monsterous, to single voice, to several voices at once. And always with a certain, ghostly hall-echo going on. I don't know. But it was pretty epic to read that way. Even if it's probably not canon. I guess I got inspired and hyped up and started making additional things up, I don't know.
I'll go to sleep now before I write more silly things I'll probably regret in the morning.
But I know I won't regret saying I wish your story would be turned into an animated 2D movie! Maybe Watership-Down style or similar. Something with dark, strong, emotional atsmophere, with the plain focus on life and survival. No sugar-coating anything real.
Shit, I really need to go to sleep now. Bye.
